well i promised id post pictures of the build. well this isnt waht i planned but im going to show the damage that was sustained at etown just starting the car for its first outing. Either this was aHUGE parts failure fluke, or i missed something BIG time, or the the msd did cause a backfire which casued major damage or it hydraulicd/ ignited unburnt fuel causing big backfire. Personally i thing the backfire was the result not the cause. I think the cars cursed...murphys law came here on vacation and never left cause he liked it so much!

so here goes....

The cylidner liners are normally 1 piece. The #8 decided to become 2 pices...ow wait 750 pieces !!! notice how it cracked off the top of sleeve. Thsi block was previosuly used for 40 dyno pulls in an engine competition so it had some seasoning on it. Maybe it was fractured already and just its time??

ohh the heads were (past tense) NOS.... im so glad i put them on. notice the pieces of ring nicely wedged into most of the other chambers. i need 8 new pistons too....
Its interetseing the top ring goes nearly exactly to where the sleeve seperated at TDC...

the picture of the piston shows the top portion of the liner wrapped around the piston. it seprated from the remainder of sleeve!

That space is where the top of the liner normally is. it fractured. But was that the cause or result of something else??

By the way

Thanks to Andrew for the thread name "Pandoras Block"

Ryan, Let me know if I can help in anyway. Any chance of putting an iron block in the Camaro and coming out to dial in the Suspension?

Hang in there Ryan. :winner We all can't wait to see the car back together. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Next build leave the hand grenade out!
