i'm a little confused as to how the exhaust sounds gets tech'd. seeing as how my cars exhaust exits straight out the back with trumpets that are meant to increase the sound, am i at a disadvantage right off the bat?

wouldnt cars with side exit pipes(camaro, nova,TA mopar etc) or downward facing tailpipes not bump the db meter nearly as much.

as you can tell, i'm doing an olds&this is about the only rule that concerns me,,,

thanks&great site, i'll post some pics when i'm ready

X-pipes dull the sound a little, choose your mufflers wisely, cam specs are also instrumental. If you are doing a W-30, W-31, W-32 car the sound is much more aggressive than a stocker 442...look at the cam specs.

I too am doing an Olds...W-31 clone. If you have any questions shoot me a PM or shoot StickW31 (Steve) a PM...it s a great bunch of guys here! Always willing to help!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The current dB limits were taken of a handful of cars and some of which are on the loud side.

Yes, exhaust exit and turndowns likely affect the reading but as long as you don't go crazy with the cam you should be alright. Keep in mind muffler choice is a big thing too.

Dynomax Hemi Turbos are pretty tame...a little larger than others...Super Turbos are popular. The Pypes Street Pro is another one gaining popularity.

Hop on the Youtube and listen to some clips of each and make your own conclusions as to which one you can deal with...

If you want to send me a PM with LSA of your cam and/or duration then I could tell you roughly how nasty it will sound. You will ne surprised. I was listening to stock W31s last night and DAYUM the were choppy!

Dave
