We want your input, do you want to see multiple Quick Fields. (If the Qualifying is close) One quick eight and the rest of the field is paired up in 2 out 3 match races.

All I can say is I wouldn't want to be the #8 qualifier in any quick or quicker 8 format. What's the point of racing against a car with a one second performance advantage like at Musclepalooza Factory stock and FAST? i just don't get it. If your opponent doesn't break you have no chance. I would be for match racing across the board or some kind of handicap to even things up a little more. But I don't have too worry to much based on my present performance potential unless there is a small turn out. :?:

i like the match race for sure.

the most fun ive had racing is when its neck and neck,

win or lose its fun.

also a with a good r/t, you still have a chance at a guy thats known to be a little quicker.

and it makes for a great story afterwards.

This year at the Mopar Nat's we had eight cars with E/T's ranging from 11.50 to 14.50. The racers decided to run two out of three match races. This made for some very close racing. I agree that if the E/T's are far apart the format should accomidate the E/Ts. If the E/T's are close do we run Quick Eights for all? :?:

I really like the quick 8's with consolation rounds. Its strikes a good balance between competition and making runs/having fun. Everybody has a chance to make at least 2 elim passes. If you go out in the first round, you still get to run in the consolation round. This makes a quick 8 with 8 cars still fun.

If events support it I think 2 quick 8's should be run however there should be an attendance threshold of a certain number of cars before its implemented, not just 16 cars.

While match racing makes for some real good racing it can lose its fun aspect if there is a big gap between you and the next fastest, or sombody had issues in qualifying but got them sorted for the 2 out of three or if there is an odd number of cars and you qualify last to make bye runs. Perhaps the 2 out of 3 match races can be restructured to make sure that stuff doesn't happen??? :?:

Perhaps we can get Ralph to shave his head and do the arm drop thing while guys negotiate how many lengths they get. ;)

Wow, I just lost a full page of intellegent lucid thoughts about this subject when I evidently pressed the wrong button. The old fart racing mind has no interest in repeating the whole thing again. To summarize, I am a pain in the a-- and I like to complain about everything. Ya! I think thats what I said.

the nice thing about the match races is you can honestly say you will have fun no matter your ET, yet its still heads up racing.
this i think will do more to attract newbies also.

imagine the excitement of a large attendance meet with cars running a tenth apart, and then matched up.!
holy cow!
and do you then really need to spend BIG money on a huge motor ?
just keep racing what you have and get good at it.

dont get me wrong i want more cubes, etc. but that will come in time, along with a new opponent

also for the record i would be against any bracket racing!

What I have been doing currently is polling the Drivers at the Events, If the E/T's are close they all seem to want to run a Quick Eight Formats. (Except Hal :D ) If the E/T's are far apart then the Drivers have gone with the 2 out of 3.

When we do get 24 cars and the E/T's are all close we will run 3 Quick Eights... I think that is what we will do if the drivers want to.

yeah . no B/Racing

polling the racers is good.

every race is different depending on who is there and the E.T.s

i just think its good to match the closer ET cars together, so a win is within reach of a slower car with a good driver. it puts more driver talent into the equation which equals fun!

just my opinion and i will go with the majority, and ralph, your doing a great job and i will race however.
