ROAD TO THE 2015 SUPERCAR RACES CHAMPIONSHIP.

Image

Ted's Road to the 2015 Championship started in Epping New Hampshire with SuperCar races ninth annual ice breaker at a new track for 2015, New England Dragway. It was at this very first race that the shape of how the season would end started to show with Ted Daros qualifying in the number one spot, running a 11.46 @ 125 mph. He would then dispence of Kathy and her 2014 championship GTX in the first round. The second round saw Ted jumping the start and waisting a great run with a red light start against Billy Atwood.

On Sunday Ted again came to play taking the number one qualifying spot again, this time running a strong 11.36 @ 125. However Teds fortunes turned ugly when his Nova broke and he couldn't make it to the line for the first round.Image

Following a fun weekend of old vs new at Lebanon Valley' Ted was back for our Battle of the Brands race. Ted's mean green machine was still recovering from his wounds so Ted showed up with Jrs black car to have a good weekend, but not doing his championship chase any good. This would be one of his dropped races.Image

The 4th round of the 2015 championship season brought the SuperCar road show to Raceway Park, Englishtown, New Jersey. Though Ted started out taking it easy on his big block, qualifying 3rd at only a 12.17 @ 122, he wasn't going to get snagged in eliminations.

Image

Ted came out storming, tearing through Dominic and his Impala in the first round, then Ralph fell to the Nova in the second round. This set up a rematch with Billy and his new automatic transmission equipped 6 Bbl GTX in the finals.

Image

Ted ran an 11.85 to get the win and to close the points gap to Billy by a few more points.

Round Five. The next SuperCar race took place at Supercars unofficial home track, Raceway Park, Englishtown, New Jersey. Ted and his Nove didn't hold back in qualifying going 11.58 and falling into the number two spot. The second qualifying positions set him up against his son in the first round. Age and experience defeated youth and enthusiasm putting Ted into a second round match up with the championship point leader Billy Atwood. Teds Nova was the better car on this day putting it into a final round matchup with Ralph.

In a close race Ted took the win moving from 5th in points to 4th.

Ted was forced to bring his Chevy into enemy territory for the next race. The Mopar Atlantic Nationals at Raceway Park. After qualified second at 11.59 @ 123 he proceeded to make the mopar fans sad by beating the 69 6 pack of Scott M. He then took out Hal's stupidly quick small block Chevy II to put him into the Saterday final against Ralph and the days track favorite. But he wasn't going to lay down just to make the people in the stands happy. He took down Ralph gaining another win.

Image

On the second day of the Mopar Atlantic Nationals Ted came out qualifying on the pole with a stout 11.23 @ 125 mph.
In the first round he took out Rhett and his Barracuda. In the second round however he ran up against Billy and his championship leading GTX. Today the GTX was just good enough to trailer the Nova.

Rounds eight and nine brought SuperCar races back to Epping New Hampshire, New England Dragway. Ted didn't make the long drive to just fool around. Ted put down a run of 11.19 @ 125 to put him at the top of the field for when racing started.

Image

In the first round Ted picked off the small block Demon setting up another race with the 2014 SuperCar champion 1971 GTX of the Queen of Green. Ted and his Nova were up for the challenge, it's not 2014 anymore. Having dispenced once again of the 2014 SuperCar champion. Ted set his sights on the current SuperCar points leader. The dark green Nova had just enough to get the win over the dark green GTX of Billy Atwood.

Image

Image

Sunday's race started much the way Saterdays did with Ted again at the top of the heap with an 11.39 @ an amazing 126 mph!

But the first round matchup didn't go exactly as planned as Ralph's Demon ran the number on the Nova. If not for Teds incredible .024 reaction time, he would've gotten an early start on the drive home. In the second round Ted again did away with the 1971 GTX to get another chance in the final. This time he came up against the storming big block Chevelle of Greg Whitney. In a battle of Chevy big blocks Ted took another win and another step forward in the championship race.

Rounds ten and eleven brought the SuperCar racers to Island Dragway in central New Jersey. Ted again put his Nova on the pole running an 11.30 @ 124 mph.

Image

Round one saw Ted come up against new comer Jacob in his very quick 1973 Buick Gran Sport Stage 1. Once again Ted was up for the challenge and getting to face Ralph in the second round. The Nova left an instant after the Demon but sprinted pass to earn a ticket into the finals against the 6 Bbl of Billy Atwood. Going into this final, Ted was, as you can see in the photo attached, noticeably agitated as the championship is down to just single points.

Image

Despite his nerves Ted pulled out a win against his points rival to gain very important points as the season neared the end.

Sunday didn't start quite as well with Ted dropping to the second spot after qualifying. But he easily got to the finals beating both Dom and Hal in their small block Chevys.

Image

This set up yet another match with Billy and his big bad X.

Image

Despite the very important pool of what ET Steves AAR cuda would run with a very stock backup 318, Ted would not be distracted putting another victory in his pocket.

The next two rounds were scheduled to be at Lebanon Valley Dragway. Cold weather came to New York along with the traveling SuperCar group. Ted used the cold track conditions to show his driving skills again qualifying on top despite running only an 11.54 @ 116.

The first round saw Ted against the big bad Hemi Charger of Tom T. Even with Tom banging through the 4 speed without flaw, Ted got there first. In the second round Greg and his perfect Blue Chevelle fell to the Nova setting the stage for another match between the 396 Nova and the 6 Bbl GTX. Once again it was the Chevy squeezing out the victory.

Image

On Sunday a third place qualifying was the best the Nova could muster was, timing in at an 11.46 @ 124. This was going to setup an epic first round battle between Ted and Bill's 1968 383 Road Runner.

Image

Bill having just run his first 13 second run was more than ready to put a stick into the spokes of Ted's Championship run. Ted could scents the danger he was in and called on Mother Nature to save him.

Image

The incoming blizzard seemed like a weak excuse to postpone the race, but that's what happened...

The 13th round that was snowed out at Lebanon Valley was pushed to Atco New Jersey where Ted would have to face the awesome green Road Runner that drove 4 1/2 hours to southern New Jersey to bring him a smack down. But again Ted was able to avoid this bump to his championship hopes as the track would not give Supercars enough passes to finish the Lebanon race and do the scheduled atco race. So for some reason Ted was given a walkover into the second round.

Image

In the second round Ted faced off against the GTX of Billy Atwood again. This time Ted a 10 point lead, was looking to put the championship away. But Billy is having none of it and put Ted onto the trailer.

Using the runs from the Lebanon Valley continuation race as qualifying times for the Atco race, Ted gets a third place qualifier coming in at an 11.67 @ 123.

In the first round Ted faced off against the big block Chevelle of Joe Tammano.

Image

Ted put the big bad Chevy away and sets up a second round races against Billy Atwood. With every point important this round is huge for both racers. Ted puts it together and gets into the finals to race Ralph and his 6 Bbl Road Runner.
The Road Runner gets an easy win as the Nova breaks down leaving Atco Ted has a 10 point lead and a very broken car.

With the Nova out of commission the pressure was on Billy Atwood to run the table and all Ted could do was watch. Coming out with the black car and maybe play blocker.

Image

But he didn't have to wait long as Ralph's Hemi put an end to Billy's championship hopes.
