My trim tag appears to have a - - where the paint color codes would normally be. It's very faint in that area of the trim tag. I am unsure of the original color, because - despite the low mileage (49K), it had been stripped to bare metal and repainted at least once. I was unable to find any real remnants of original paint on the main body.
Anyhow... the car was painted nearly 6 years ago before I was aware of this kind of racing. It is a factory color, just not what was widely offered in 1972. My question is - will I be DQ'd for this? There are documented 72's painted the same color as my car. It's not a loud and obnoxious shade. I have been told to say, "It's close, but not
exact." I do not have it in my budget, nor do I have the place to repaint the car.
Here is a picture of the car before I yanked the incorrect engine and began to redo the entire drivetrain. (Yes, I know the headlight bezels need to be black. My originals were pitted bad, and I robbed these from a malibu parts car. I haven't gotten around to masking & painting them yet.)

Other than the color, I don't think anyone will be able to nit pick much about the car. I have hunted down every exact part # piece needed, and even picked up an NOS heat stove assembly to connect to the 71'-72' specific cowl induction air cleaner base.
