Road to the 2022 SuperCar Championship

Final four in New Jersey. With a great year coming to a close, we moved the SuperCar Road Show to Atco Dragway Atco, NJ. A track that never disappoints. Weather conditions that we wait all year for. The SuperCars roll in for our Record Runs Weekend. After the final SuperCar goes down the 1320 in qualifying, we find an new but familiar SuperCar on the pole. Ted Daros brought out his Record Holding Nova SS396 and put the Nova on the pole. Behind Ted in P2 is Tony Palazzolla, in his Charger Hellcat, followed by Frankie Ford and Anthony Mauro. Our points leader finds himself in P5. Not a good place to be after Q2, as P1 will race P5 in round one. Peter, as he has been all year, wasn't worried about who he had to race. They both roll to the line. Both stop just short of the beams look over at each other, and simultaneously nod at each as if to say, "Let's Do This"! They Pre-stage, and then instantly, together stage. The lights come down, and Peter is off to the WIN, as Ted turned on the Red Bulb by .007.

That Win took Peter thru Ralph, and to the Final Round, against Anthony Mauro. Anthony needed this win if he had any chance of winning the points series. With all systems checked, and a go given by his engine builder Richie Haufman. To the lanes they go. With pure focus from both racers, they did their burnouts and staged their SuperCars. The light went green and the race to the finish line is on! Anthony leaves 1st .237 to Peter's .252. Thru the 1/8, door handle to door they go. The light shines bright in the right lane. WINNER, TOP ELIMINATOR PETER CRAIG!!! 11.624 ET to Anthony's 11.667. Once again do the math, margin of victory .03.

The consolation race was once again won by Ken Turchetti. Ken did all he needed to do to be the spoiler in the points series, quietly collected the points needed.

Day 2 of Record Runs Weekend Atco, NJ

Almost a repeat of day one. Yes, once again, the two titans of the class find themselves in the Finals. From the P2 position, Anthony Mauro, and Peter Craig from the P4 position. Fought their way thru the field, to once again meet in the Final. With a .03 loss the day before, Anthony knew he had to Win this day to even have a chance a the Championship. Peter worked hard all year winning many quick eights and match races. A win on this day would just about do it. The trophies could be ordered with Peter Craig as the 2022 SuperCar Champion, All Peter had to do was rinse and repeat. Anthony had different plans, to the lanes they went. They heated the hides and staged with no drama. They both left with no tire spin. Anthony once again .231 reaction time to Peter's .256. We were in for a repeat of Day one. At the 1/8 mile, Anthony maintained a fender on Peter, thru the traps they went. You could hear the cheers from the grand stand, as Anna pumps her fist to celebrate Anthony's WIN! Anthony 11.735 Peter 11.789.

The consolation race was between Ken and Ted Daros. Ken found himself in the Kiddy pool with a BIG Shark. Ted with ease took that one point Ken needed. Ted for the WIN!

Off to the Season Finale we go.

The Final Race weekend of the 2022 SuperCar Championship. Who will be on top once the smoke clears. With perfect weather forecasted for both days. The SuperCar racers came out in full force to crown our 2022 Champion. The bench racing started once the second SuperCar pitted. If Peter does this and Anthony does that and Ken goes to the Final. What if Peter does this and Ken does that. Anthony needs to qualify number one both days and take Peter out in round one. All of the different ways to win were bench raced till they called us to the lanes. Q1 is next.

After Q2, Peter did everything he needed to do. P1 for Peter, that's another point and another nail in the coffin. Anthony, in P4, would have to do everything in his Pontiac Power to get to the Final. With Ted Daros in P2, the championship for Anthony would have to go thru Ted. They say we don't race on paper, that is so true. Ted couldn't make the call and forfeited his run, and that put Anthony in the final against, you guessed it, Peter Craig.

Peter was set on putting the Final nail in the coffin. He had enough of the Poncho doing everything possible to spoil the party. They both made their way to the line, Anthony Focused on the Win light, Peter focused on putting Anthony on the trailer. The lights came down, and it's all over. Anthony spins and loses complete traction. Peter, as he has done all season long, takes his Mustang down the track to another Quick 8 win, and now becomes the 2022 SuperCar Series Points Champion.

In the consolation race, we find Ralph and his AAR vs Ken and his Challenger 392 Hemi. Ken, needing every point possible to capture the P2 in the points series, does all he can to put his Challenger in victory lane. The lights come down and go Green for Ralph and Red for Ken. Chopping the tree too close was Ken. Ralph for the Win!

With the Champion crowned, our final day of the 2022 season was filled with many well deserved congratulations to our new Champion. Pictures taken, autographs signed and babies kissed. Peter worked very hard this season to make this a reality. The board at SuperCar Races Congratulates Peter and his 2022 SuperCar Championship WIN!

Please take the time to Congratulate Peter when you see him this coming weekend at the Cabin Fever Show at the Naugatuck Entertainment Center and at our 2022 Championship Party.

BTW Peter won the final race of the 2022 Season.
