The 2020 SuperCar season had a bumpy start. Not due to anything within control of the series but the dreaded Covid scare. But finally by June 6th we were able to sneak into a facility and put on a race. Even with all the restrictions and obstacles the S/C guys still brought 16 top flight musclecars to LVD DRAGWAY the first weekend of June.

Qualifications ended with the 6 barrel 1970 GTX of Bill Atwood with Tom Tarzwell at the control in the top spot posting an 11.57 @ 120 mph. Hot on the heals of the big X is Tom Tarzwell s Hemi Charger 500 going through the traps at 11.67 @ 121 with the Sr Atwood at the wheel . Ralph Barbagallo in another 6 barreled powered Plymouth, his a 1970 Road Runner at 11.71 takes the third spot. Rounding out the top half of the ladder it the 6 Pack 4 speed Challenger of Kevin Davey. Davey shifting his Dodge to a 12.08 @ 119 mph.

Rhett Moody tops the four cars in the first kiddie pool of the year running a 12.16 @ 113 in his 1968 340 Formula S BARRACUDA. Just .06 of a second behind Moody is the '68 Road Runner of Bill DiCicco posting a best qualifying time of 12.22 @ 111. The 2 Pontiac Firebird of Dave Marquis 12.61 @ 111 and Anthony MAURO 12.71 @ 109 round out the Quick 8.

The Second 8 consists of the Ford of Scott McKenzie in the 1 spot followed by the 4 speed Impala of Dom D'Alonzo, 13.24, the Firebird of Andy Cooling, 13.28 and Tim Fredrick's small block Dart, 13.66. The bottom half of the ladder brings Rhett True's Buick, Frank Heofling's Road Runner, Dave Engstams Challenger and Ted Carl's 68 Nova.

The winner of the 1st quick eight was Tom Tarzwell and his 1969 Charger 500, Runner up was Ralph Barbagallo and his 1970 Road Runner

The Hemi Charger left NY with the 29 points of the days winner. The Atwood GTX, and the Barbagallo Road Runner, both got their 27 points awarded. Rhett Moody also earned 27 by winning consolation and Anthony MAURO got his 27 by upsetting Kevin Davey in a first round match up.

The 2nd race of the 2020 season found the regular suspects in the SuperCar Series Traveling south to Atco Dragway for a one day Battle Of The Brands. 16 top SuperCars Battling for top eliminator status in there respected classes. Number one Qualifier went to the GTX of Bill Atwood with an 11.486 E/T over Ralph Barbagallo's 1970 Raod Runner. Rounding out the quick eight was Anthony Mauro in his 1967 FireBird Running a 12.52 E/T. Our second quick eight saw new comer Frank Panteleone at the top of the back in his 3 Tons of fun Lincoln with Kevin Davey in the number 2 spot in his 1970 Challenger R/T. The Running orders have been set and the eliminations have started.

Bill Atwood makes quick work of Bill Dicicco in round one and moves to round 2 were he meets up with Tom Tarzwell and his 1969 Charger 500. Tom down on power looses to Bill Atwood in round 2. On the other side of the Latter is Ralph Barbagallo and his round winning 1970 Road Runner. Ralph points the Road Runner to the starting line and finds him self working thru T/A of Dave Marquie and the hot small smock of Rhett Moody and right into the Final against Bill Atwwod.

The 2nd quick 8 is led by new comer Frank Panteleone and his 3 tons of fun Lincoln was the top qualifier followed by Kevin Davey's R/T. Both Frank and Kevin fought thru two rounds of competition and found them selves in the finals. With Frank putting the quicker Challenger R/T on the Trailer with a quicker reaction time start.

The Final in the 1st quick was epic as always when the GTX of Atwood and the Road Runner of Barbagallo meet. No need to run the full quarter to figure out the winner of this match up. The -.017 red light by Bill Atwood ended all chances of a top end victory. In the first race Ralph Red lighted in the final against Tom's Charger 500 by -.002 seemed fitting that the role was reversed in the second race of the season. Barbagallo's RR set low E/T of the Event 11.401. Leaving Atco Ralph's Plymouth Road Runner took the lead in the Championship Points Series. Onto the next event of the 2020 season Mopars @ the Valley.

Race 3 of 8 Road to the Championship.

The first race of the 2nd half of the season found the SuperCar crew heading up to Lake George for some rest and relaxation on Friday and Saturday, Sunday morning we made our way to Lebanon Valley Dragway for the the 2020 Mopars @ The Valley Show and SuperCar ShootOut Race 3 of the 2020 Schedule.

Always a great event for the SuperCar crew. Mopars @ the Valley 2020 did not disappoint. With 20 SuperCars attending this event it was sure to have close competition thru out all the respected races.

Tom Tarzwell had his Charger are ready for battle as did Bill Atwood Jr.. Both cars came one day early to do some TNT. The Day of TNT paid off for both SuperCars as they qualified 1 & 2 with the Charger scoring its best ever ET at 11.12 @ 125 MPH. Other notable accomplishments recorded at this event was the Firebird of Andy Colling securing himself a number 6 qualifying spot in the quick 8 with an ET of 11.883 only .002 slower than number 5 qualifier Bill DiCicco and his Road Runner.

The 2nd quick 8 had many new and old faces in it. Tim and John Fredericks, John Gavin, Chris Kuskowski and many more old faces came out to play this weekend. The fields set, let's go racing!

We move right to the Finals in quick 8 #1 Tom Tarzwells 500 over takes Bill Jr in a close race. Jr. looses to Sr. as Sr. schools Jr's once again with a quicker hole shot E/T's are close with the 500 running 11.42 to the GTX's 11.439. The extra day of TNT paid off for the Atwood crew, a 1 2 finish was all it took to move Ralph's Road Runner from 1st in points to 3rd.

In the quick 8 Consolation we saw much of the same close racing. One of the highlights was the feud between Bill DiCicco and on track Rival Rhett Moody. These two met in round 2 both needing the points to stay in the mix for the championship. Bill having the performance advantage going into the match up is was bound to be a good race. They pre staged and then staged. Bill leaves the line Rhett follows all are thinking it's over for the little Barracuda. But wait is Rhett pulling Bill on top end. Yes he is. Rhett for the win!!!! Rhett runs a 12.018 to Bill's loosing 12.021. He did it again. The Finals in the consolations was Rhett vs Any and his killer Firebird. Again Rhett has to pull out all the stops yet again being the underdog. No Problem I got this says Rhett. Running a 12.20 to Andy's 12.24. Congrats to Rhett on his Consolation win.

With most of the SuperCar Racers going home wondering what happened.

Race 4 of 8 Road to the 2020 SuperCar Championship

The SuperCar points series never disappoints. In the 13 years we have never had a run away winner. The points series was designed to reward all that attend the series race after race. The points series includes all that complete from the 100% Certified entry to the new comer wanting to see if SuperCars is for him or her. With that being said the 2020 season saw Ralph Barbagallo 1970 Road Runner 440+6BBL, Bill Dicicco 1968 Road Runner 383 Auto, Anthony Mauro 1967 Firebird 400 Auto, Dave Engstand 2015 Challenger STX, Rhett Moody 1968 Barracuda S 340 Auto, Dave Marquis 1979 T/A 455 auto, Billy Atwood 1970 GTX 440+6BBl Auto and Tom Tarzwell 1969 Charger 500 428 Hemi all are in contention to become the 2020 SuperCar World Champion. All are within points of leading the series. So heading into race 4 of 8 the tension was high. Every Driver was focused and ready to do Battle in the Valley.
The quick 8 was filled with regulars of the series, Anthony and his 67 Firebird made the quick 8 by .10 over Brian Wilsey and his 1970 AAR Cuda. The #1 spot went to Tom Tarzwell's Charger 500 with Ralph Barbagallo's 6BBL Road Runner just .05 slower than the Charger. The field is set sand we are ready to go racing once again.

In round one the top four qualifiers in both the 1st and 2nd quick all advance to round two. Round 2 was a different story in all of the respected ladders. In the quick 8 Tom Tarzwell's Charger was pitted up against Bill Atwood Jr. This match up saw Bill Atwood Jr. loosing by only .08. The next match up in the quick eight was Barbagallo's 6BBL RR up against Colling's 400 power Firebird. A skating start for Barbagallo made it a very interesting race on top end with Collings 11.99 to Barbagallo's 11.79.

The Final's was a rematch of the following race with Tarzwell's Charger having lane choice over Barbagallo's 6BBL RR. Both racers focused on the win, they prestaged and then staged. the 6BBL leaves first hoping the starting line advantage will be enough to make up for the Charger's slightly better ET. Once the Charger left it was all over the Charger lost traction and slowed. In the Consolation race you saw 2 very equally match racers. Bill Dicicco and his 68 RR up against Rhett Moody and his Formula S340. They stages and put both machines up on the convertors. The lights came down and Moody with the slight reaction time advantage and leaves first .099 to a .126. As the timing markers are clicked off the lead changes many times. The final result was 11.969 to a loosing 11.966. YES Moody's slight starting line advantage cemented to the win on the top end.

Leaving LVD once again the lead in the points changes and Rhett Moody in his Formula S is now in contention to possibly pull ahead.

Race 5 of 8 Road to the SuperCar World Championship

With the first four races of the 2020 season in the books and only two full weekends of racing left the contenders of the series are starting to get serious about the championship. We rolled into LVD for race 5 & 6. Properly named SuperCars Rumble in the Valley. This event didn't disappoint. On Saturday we had eleven cars show up for the Rumble. Andy Colling cemented his place in the top four. No surprise Tom Tarzwells Charger was position in the number one spot followed by Bill Atwood Jr in his fathers GTX and Barbagallo's Road Runner was in the third qualifying position. The 2nd half of the quick eight was filled with heavy hitters, Bill D Rhett M Dave M and Anthony M. This was going to be a true Rumble in the Valley.

Round one was no surprise. The Top four qualifiers all advance to round two. This set up a must win situation for Barbagallo and his Road Runner. Barbagallo was matched up with Tarzwells Charger. A must win race for Barbagallo. The two Staged and and the lights went green for both The Charger left 1st put had no traction and slowed to a 12.45 ET. The win went to Barbagallo and on to the Finals we go. In the Finals Barbagallo was matched up with Bill Atwood Jr. Both SuperCars staged and ready to Rumble. The lights go green Barbagallo has the starting line advantage. Bill Jr. looses traction and your Day one Rumble in the Valley Top eliminator is Ralph and his 1970 Road Runner.

In the Consolation race you saw Bill DiCicco who eliminated Dave Marquis and in the other lane Rhett Moody who eliminated Anthony Mauro. Both ready to Rumble they moved to pre stage and then stage. Both Plymouths hard on the convertor waited impatiently for the lights to go green. As the light goes green Bill Dicicco goes -.002 RED! and the winner at the line Rhett Moddy and his Formula S 340 Barracuda.

Day one in the books and Barbagallo continues to lead the SuperCar World Championship.
