The first race of the 2008 East Coast Swing found the SuperCar ShootOut racers in the first State of the Union, Delaware. We shared Delaware with many other racers that weekend. Some wondered if Delaware was big enough for one more group of die hard racers. Traffic was thought to be too much to bear with Nascar in town. With ease, we all found out that Delaware was big enough to host one more class. With no traffic issues to speak of, our trip in and out of DE was with no delay.

The gates opened at 10 am sharp. The racers poured in from all over the country to be part of the N/A All HorsePower Tour. After we secured a great pit location behind the stands, SuperCar ShootOut racers found themselves spoiled with an endless amount of runs.

Harry Chargois Brought out his Red Hot Bee with a fresh set of Polyglass Redlines. Sr. and Jr. made it out for the trip as well. Dave and Sally Finn brought their 1963 Dodge Polara Max Wedge to Delmar to do battle for the top spot in the SuperCar Record Book. Dave stayed laser focused on the commands he was being given by Engine Builder Mike Bonsanti of HP Motors. Dave would make the call, "Mike, we went even quicker!" Mike would then give Dave the new formula to run in the next round.

Ted Daros had made some changes to his LS6 Chevelle in hopes for a new best ever.
Ted found himself distracted during his first couple of runs trying to achieve the best
reaction time on the day. John Suess brought along his engine builder and Oldsmobile Guru, Tony, to make sure all of the screws were turned to the precise setting. After minimal persuasion, John removed his bulky and heavy A/C unit. I am sure by the next event the Olds will have the Heater Delete option installed.

Lane and Diane Carey brought out their prized Boss 429 Mustang to display in the pit area. There was a constant flow of enthusiasts looking over the Boss all day long. Harry Chargois and his fearless 1969 383 Super Bee paired up with new comer Jack Scarborough and his 1968 Camaro RS in round one. They came out of the gate with only a tooth pick separating them; by the 1/8 Harry's lead was the thickness of a pine tree; by the quarter mile, Harry had an oak tree lead on Jack.

In round two, John Suess piloted his 1969 Hurst Olds against Ted Daros' Best of Show 1970 LS6 Chevelle SS. These good ole boys found themselves in a good old fashioned street race. Neither of them waited for the tree to be activated, once Ted wiggled, John was gone. At the end of the quick Delmar quarter mile, they were too close to call, with only the width of a potato chip separating their run.

Dave Finn, with the help of Mike, tuned his Polara into killer mode with record runs all day long. Dave, Sally and Mike had only one milestone left to accomplish, Top Gun status. In the final round, with the sun setting and sea air at its prime, Dave gave the Delmar racing surface all he had. The polyglas's found themselves in Ice Road Trucker Territory as Dave peddled the Polara to another sub 11.60 run.
