Offered for sale for the 1st time ever to the public. 1939 Chevrolet JA Master Deluxe. Very well known and documented winning B/Gas Drag car. Documented back to the early 1960's. This 1939 Chevrolet was built, campaigned and owned by Plainville, CT Native, Al Oakes. Al built this 1939 Chevrolet in the winter of 1961/1962, Originally equipped with a 409, dual quads and a 4 Spd. Transmission. Al built the Master Deluxe for dual use, As a tow vehicle for his all out Anglia Racer called the Growler, and to race in B/Gas. Al won most of the races he entered them in. He was a regular at CT Dragway. New England Dragway, Lebanon Valley Dragway, Dover Dragway and Charleston Dragway.
Own a piece of New England drag race history. This 1939 Master Deluxe is in excellent condition, never wrecked, rusted, or used in any manor other than the way Al Oakes Intended it to be used in. Driving this Master Deluxe brings you back to the early 60's. You'll feel like the next turn is the entrance to the staging lanes, back in time to the Northeast's famous drag strips.
This 1939 is equipped with a Small Block 400, 4BBL a Muncie Rock Crusher 4 Speed, a 9 inch Ford rear end with 3.55 gears, Power Steering and Disc Brakes. Other features are electric header cut offs, modern Radio with blue tooth. The paint is in very good condition with very minor chips from the enjoyment the previous owner had telling the story of this great Chevrolet. Interior is in very nice condition and period correct. Full original gauges are present, as well as the original tach installed by Al. All work very well.
