"Carlisle Events is proud to support Collector Car Appreciation Day. This national event is Friday, July 8th and will be celebrated locally as part of the Chrysler Nationals. After all, Carlisle is the home of the term "Collector Car."

As part of the event, we want to recognize one individual who best epitomizes the Collector Car hobby.

Win 2011 weekend passes AND a 2012 showfield registration (or weekend passes) plus a FREE hotel by telling us in 210 words or less what you or someone you know does to epitomize the Collector Car hobby."

"Congratulations to Sharleen Barbagallo and her husband Ralph as the winners in our first Collector Car Appreciation Day online contest. In exactly 210 words, Sharleen shared what her husband Ralph does to best epitomize the Collector Car hobby. As she explains, “Ralph has grown from a kid who loved Muscle Cars to a man who’s a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the car hobby. He’s amassed an impressive car collection on a small budget and has inspired numerous people to become owners of vintage and modern muscle.” Sharleen and Ralph win a pair of weekend passes plus parking for 2011 and for 2012, either a showfield registration or weekend passes and parking PLUS weekend accommodations. I was so excited to find out that I had won! I wanted to share with all of you what I shared with Carlisle Events.

"I saw the Collector Car Appreciation Day information on your website and immediately thought of my husband. 210 words are nowhere near enough to tell you about all that he does to promote and support the Collector Car Hobby, but the story below tells it as well as it can be told in 210 Words. Thank you for considering my entry. In exactly 210 words, Here is my story:

The person epitomizing the Collector Car Hobby is my husband, Ralph. In 25 years, he’s grown from a kid who loved Muscle Cars to a man who’s a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the car hobby. He purchased project cars, teaching himself to resurrect them, allowing him to amass an impressive car collection on a small budget.

His passion and enthusiasm for these cars and the hobby are contagious. Single-handedly, he’s inspired numerous people to become owners of vintage and modern muscle; always willing to lend a helping hand and give freely of his time to an enthusiast in need.

He faithfully attends local and major shows like Carlisle, convincing many others to make the pilgrimage. Helps judge at numerous Mopar shows, organized and runs his own weekly Mopar Cruise and Make-A-Wish fundraiser, hosts an annual fall foliage car cruise, edits the newsletter of his local Mopar club. Became President of the club, increasing membership from 40 to 383, creating 5 new Mopar Shows in Connecticut. Formed a racing series, inspiring many to get off the show field and get down the track. Designed websites and web-forum supporting his passion for Muscle Cars and Racing.

Ralph has his heart and his hands in every facet of the hobby."

The both of you do so much for the Car Collectors/Hobbyist/the average Joe to show or race their Muscle car. Ralph also has a VERY FINE Collection to boot and you deserve to win!!!! Congratulations :rock

Congrats to the two of you. Great news. Anyways I saw on the web the picture of you two recieving the major award.

But seriously The two of you have been a great asset to the collector car hobby. All I know is that with the little one she will be the only one in pre K that can explain the difference between a wedge head vs a hemi motor along with production statistics.

We were part of a press conference on friday July 8 and were presented with a special award by Bill Miller, cofounder of Carlisle Events. What an honor!

Where did you see pic's on the web? We didn't get any, and I'd love to see them.
