What I'd really love to see (as a die-hard Pontiac guy) is a MAX EFFORT, HIGH BUDGET 1968 Ram Air II Firebird. I think that this car would have the best shot at running up with the big dogs. Look what Pat Wendling was doing years ago with his '69 RAIV 'Bird on a limited budget and nothing exotic.
I'd pick the '68 just because it's a little lighter than the '69 and could be had with the RAII heads which are round port like the RAIV. They also can run the "long branch" exhaust manifolds which will easily out flow any of the other Pontiac offerings. With 501 cubic inches and a weight in the low 3000 lb. range it could really be something. If only I had the money...

Exactly Mike!
Running 12.0's in bad air in "Pure Stock" trim. Imagine what it could do if someone with the proper resources were to build a max effort car for F.A.S.T. type races.

I'm kind of kicking myself for not going this route when I got started on the purpose built car, even though I don't have the time or budget to find it's full potential. Oh well.

I was out reserching GM Stuff and came accross a Super Stock ZL1 motor. Motor number 48? of the 500 built it is for sale. I am thinking about adding it to my motor collection. Going to inspect it this week. was built by a Pro Stock Co. in NY City and Campained in a 69 Camaro on the East Coast. 100% complete no extra holes.

65 or preferably a 66 Buick GS. I just don't think a nailhead Buick would have enough steam to keep up with the other cars in the series. How about a big inch 430 based dual quad equipped Riviera?

I would liketo see more 442's and AMXs. A killer Rebel "Machine" car would be interestig as well. Though I'm sure too heavy, I always had a soft spot for 69-70 Grand Prixs too...especially the 4 spd variety.
