Hi guys
I'm new here and have a question since I believe you know more about such matters.
I have come across a used set of G70x14 bias ply tires that look to be in very good condition. The only problem is I could not find a DOT code on them. They are Wide Trac Custom Classic tires with a code on them that reads 4HX 115. I called a tire dealer who was helpful but he said that was not a DOT code. The seller, who owns a small restoration shop, does not know how old they are but he said they came off a show car and he has had them for about a year. He wants $400 for 4 of them. Do you think I should gamble or just pony up and buy a set of Firestones and be sure of my tires?
They are going on my '69 road runner.
Thanks

They are from Coker Tire Comp. Call them they will give you the dates. They are from 1986 to 1990 I think. I have set of them mounted on Recall Wheels.

I called Coker earlier today but the guy there wasn't any help. If they are that old I'll pass on them and get a newer set of Firestones when the time comes. The last thing I want to do is jeopardize my ride with a set of old tires. I've already had one "incident" at the strip that cost me around $1,000 to fix. I don't need any more excitement!
