The 1/4 mile is like a pie...each piece is important....some more than others...and for sure, the 60 ft is where you can get a big return on investment :-D

What's cool about this post is as a stock tire class we can showcase our traction accomplishments and maybe help each other so as a group we will get faster so spectators will be even more impressed, and the racing will be tighter!

This of course has a premise that it is being done by the rules, so let's keep this in mind

60' isn't what wins races.

I beg to differ! Picture two cars with identical motors, weight, gearing etc. but different chassis tuning. Car 1 does a 1.65 60 foot and car 2 does a 1.89 60 foot- which one is going to win?

My car is a slug, it falls over on top end and yet it can still beat many other cars that run 2-4 mph faster down the track. How? It's all in the 60 foot!

In this type of racing the first 60 feet are even more important. These tiny little tires are easy to overpower. Once they get spinning the race is already over, the other guy is half way down the track.

I'm usually a low 1.9X, but they sprayed the track right after my burnout. Car hooked so good it bogged and still got that 1.85 time. Could of taken more throttle but I was just happy to see that 60' foot with a 12.24 time slip. No hops will hopefully make that an average 60 than an exception!

Just for fun I checked back on some old time slips on my 70 Nova and found a 1.51 60' at 2950lbs. with 14" slicks and 427 cu. in. It's kind of amazing how these stock tire cars approach those 60' times.

That's real cool hal,.....I don't know of any stock appearing cars with a 60' in the 1.50's ....yet!.....maybe ken soon!

I was working on my Nova tonight and found two time slips in the glove box with a 1.41 and 1.36 60 foot. It didn't mean that much to me back then. All we looked at was keeping the front wheels on the ground and reaction time. Back then a .500 light was perfect. 10.15 at 131.11 mph 1.36 60 ft. WOW

Great 60' let's keep them coming. I am sure Canada events will net some great 60' numbers as well as the Cecil race on June 5th. Can't wait :pop Let's not forget we don't run "Polyslicks " all the 60' numbers in this post are done with SuperCar legal polyglas tires :aok .

Ted: We bought the Nova back in 1984 and raced it at Connecticut Dragway for two years until it closed. I don't have any time slips with 60 ft from there. We raced primarily at NE Dragway mid 80's until late 90's some trips to Englishtown, Lebanon Valley and Island. The last time the car was out was in 2006. I started to disassemble it for a repaint but got involved running with you guys and it just sat. I am trying to get it together and running for the Connecticut Dragway Reunion on June 20th, which by the way Ted you should attend.

It must be the tires?

I have heard of some cars picking up 1/2 sec. Going to poly slicks!

Of course then you can build in more power, so that would explain the MPH also!

It's a diff. Universe thing!
