It was 1965. In my mind the coolests cars on the planet were the GTO and 2+2 Catalina. I used to have the 1965 oversided performance car brochure hung on the wall of my basement lair. That was the high water mark for Pontiac to me. Of course there were lots of other great Pontiac performance rides. It is hard to believe that what was once the number three brand is now history as of today. Always dug them never owned one and now can never will own a new Poncho.

My top five Pontiacs:

1965 GTO tri-power 4 speed
1965 2+2 421 tri-power 4 speed
1962 Catalina 421 dual quad
1986? Fiero GT V-6
1969 Firebird Trans-Am

What's yours?

My two pontiacs were a 1966 GTO 389 Tripower 4Spd. Royal Bob Cat and a 1968 Firebird 400 Convertible, both Red with Black interiors. It is Sad to see Pontiac go the way of Plymouth and soon Mercury will be joining them :(

Ralph, those were yours? nice lookin' iron :aok ... I did not want to stir the pot when I heard yesterday that it was " ka-put" for Pontiac. I too owned a ponti, 1995 Grand Am, it had 207,000 miles on it and was still getting 33mpg before the 3.1L let go... Great car

Yep. Sad times indeed. It was inevitable, what with the complete incompetence of those in charge at GM. :roll

BTW, here's the pic of John's favorite Pontiac...

It's a sad day in U. S. automotive history to lose a car company like Pontiac. Think of the great cars that they made, GTO's , Trans Am's, Firebirds, Catalina's, Grand Prix's,Formula's, 455 SD, 421 SD, 400, 389,
I guess that's what happens when American's buy foreign. Think before you buy.

 Nice one.

Aside from the wife's Daily Drivers, this is my only dance with a Poncho. It was born with an Old's mill under the hood.

Hmmmmm.... I think your memory must be gettin' fuzzy... :moon I know it's been a while since we've been at the same track on the same day, but I remember the outcome a little differently.
Hopefully I can make Atco so I can refresh your memory. :USA

Yep the demise of Pontiac was another punch to the gut of the musclecar community. I have never owned a poncho (yet), though I've flirted with several over the years. And it was a '67 Firebird with a transplanted 421 from a 2+2 that got me hooked on hot cars when I was a kid. So I have a soft spot for them. I agree whole-heartedly with the top 5 lists provided earlier too. Myself, I would not be surprised if a '70 455 Grand Prix ends up in my garage someday...always liked them in particular.
