Ok, so this is no doubt off the beatin path for a racing forum...but car guys are car guys so I figured you might appreciate it.

I picked up this '66 Dodge Dart Wagon with the "leaning tower of Power" engine a couple of weeks ago. It is a PURE sentimental play on my part. My parents owned one in this exact color combination back in 1966 and I spent many years as a kid being hauled all over the lower 48 states in it!!

This one, sat for over twenty years in the Texas/New Mexico border desert and is remarkably rust free!! Even the spare tire well has no rust and retains the factory grease smear!.

In addition, it has dealer-installed AC (w/ 273 v8 radiator) which still blows!!

My brother and I are planning to "refurbish" it ...not restore it, as it is more of a Survivor than anything...still original engine, paint, interior, glass...everything. Hope to get it in decent enough shape to "spring" on my parents for Xmas...should blow their minds a bit.

Very cool. My dad had a 65 SS impala. That was my childhood ride. Many good memories. Good luck on the fix up. My dad still doesn't know how I went Mopar.

On my way home from a meeting I stop at a traffic light and noticed this silver hood in the up position it looked very familiar :P . As I got closer I notice it was a Turbo hood! Came up to the ,or shall I say K-car  . I pulled into the garages lot and took a closer look. As I made my way over to the K-car I noticed it was for sale :nuts . I called the number on the sign we talked, he said take it for a ride. Once I sat behind the wheel it reminded me so much of my mom's 1984 Reliant K-Car that I drove when my mom needed gas or when I begged to take it to a school function. After I twisted the key, I had to have it. Called the owner back and within an hour I owned it! Then I told Sharleen :argue .

Thanks guys. And yes, I'll post a few pixs as the "surgery" continues...I'm amazed how hard it is to find parts for this puppy :bang

Ok, well here is where the wagon is these days. It is running well (can't kill those slant sixes) and we have done some "refurbishment". Took care of some minor rust in rear quarters and re-did some interior elements. We're trying to keep it as close to "survivor" as possible yet reliable and safe.

It went over well at Xmas and I look forward to creating some memories for my young daughter in it.
