Good luck on the rebuild there. I still say when you get it back together that is going to be scary fast

I will not be racing for remainder of 2010, it duisgusts me to say that! Instaed im going to get a head start on 2011. I have 9 spare liners but i am questioning there strength so i am going to get some made out of a steel(existing are gkn sf9 alloy, basically "hypereutectic") for added strength(8 weeks from order). I should have gone that route 3 years ago...
I plan on getting some dyno time on the engine a rollbar/cage a different converter an extra set of tires/wheels and just about enough stuff for a spare l89(cast block aluminum heads) motor over winter too... yeah i said CAGE...
Hope the cash(whats that??) and my time to do stuff holds out. I think the motorhome upgrade is on hold(its for sale on craigslist actually).

Ryan

ps :off if anyone knows a big game hunter/taxidermy collector please have them contact me...

still waiting on buying a new block. Other one is unfit for my function once repaired...would be good for either pump gas street motor or for a blown alcohol car that had it repaired and tall filled

putting heads back together...its always something...

anyone ever see this before??
these are manley severe duty valves, #3 shown #1 almost has as many pits 5 and 7 very minor. "even" side no pits...cylinder 8 is the one that failed in the block...
dont forget this car had 5 gallons of gas, less than 2 miles on it(never left my driveway under power) never a pass never over 6000 rpm
speculation on another engine site is moisture on backside of HOT valve? It still had very close as much coolant in it when i took apart as when i filled it.
I think this car or my garage has something against me..
Ryan

Ryan, would not wish that type of damage on any friend I had.....it might be cheaper for you to just go and buy a real ZL/1 for the money you put into the blue one. :bow

waiting on my decison of what bore size/wall thickness/liner thickness/to go this time around. i am splitting hairs trying to decide...hate to lose the cubes but want to try and prevent any issues again.

3 weeks for new pistons...which equals 6 real weeks
4 weeks for trick liners....which equals 8 real weeks
3 weeks after shop recieves both of above to machine block....equals 6 weeks...

so at best just to get the block....12 weeks!!!

Bet i am not far off....

sorry something screwy with my computer, cant download pictures.

new block is being worked on as i type this. the new liner installation honing, decking etc should be completed by end of next week, block should be here around june 4th. I guess my 12 week prediction was pretty close.
Hope to get back together for an event mid to late summer.

Sadly, car will be for sale upon completion.....

Ryan
