Hello, everyone. I'm hoping I can get a little help here. Can anyone give me an average time for how long it takes to rebuild the front end on a 69 B body, if everything goes well that is. The reason I ask is because the shop that is doing it now has told me that thus far they have 15 hours of labor and they still have 2-3 more hours before they finish it, so that is going to add up to quite a bit of money as you can imagine.

I'm having everything replaced.
inner and outer tie rod ends
upper and lower ball joints
upper and lower control arm bushings
pitmen arm
sway bar links
and everything in between

thanks, Juan.

Sounds like alot to me. Does that include a wheel alignment? I just did mine myself last year, the whole front end, took me one day in my driveway. That includes pressing in the bushings.

Thanks for sharing. The shop I took it to doesn't specialize in old cars but they are very familiar with them and have done this type of work in the past. What I'm being told is that a lot of the hardware is rusted and has been hard to get off, in some instances they've had to use the torch on some of it. It seems everyone is different and it's a case by case basis. I understand it's an old car but 17 hours...yikes!

Right now I'm just trying to get a better understanding of the situation and take it from there :o

I got a little clarification this saturday and it turns out that everything in my front end is shot, I mean all the old hardware had to be torched off or taken off with an air chisel...41 years of rust! But they assured me that it would be ready for pick up on Monday and I'm looking at about 16 hours of labor. I've had to replace everything up front!!!

I was just trying to do a little proactive maintenance...ah man! Old cars are like a box of chocolates.....

thanks, Juan

Hey Ralph, I'll pick it up tomorrow after work and the final bill is well much more than I expected to say the least. The guy knocked the wind out of me with the final bill and the man hours he totaled up. I will have a close look at what was done and try and put my arms around what in the world happened for the amount of hours to go so high and the additional parts that were needed. No paint was added, just remove, clean, and replace as needed.

To say I'm bummed is an understatement!

Hey Juan, take a look at the digrams from this website. You pretty much replaced everything that is shown in these Chrysler photos. That sure looks like 15 hours are more to me.
