Tom set the air door up. I had left it where Dave set it. It's def. not stuck closed, I can get it to open when whacking the throttle hard enough not in gear. Tom tightened it up from where Dave set it. I'm hoping the fuel pressure is most of the problem with the carb. I am planning on hitting the track next wednesday, barring the weather. I'd like to see a real reading on the o2's and not pegged rich.

I should add, it doesn't bog off the line. I have to come out of the hole real, real soft or it annihilate's the tires. I assume it needs the air door needs to be tightened even more.

Be carefull with that air door spring. When you tension the door you are uncoiling the spring, it can withstand only so many turns before the spring just pops and turns itself into a knot that can't be fixed. Luckily I figured that out at Mopar Day at E-town because of the swap on-site, between rounds I had to go buy 2 parts carbs just to steal that spring. Besides, that little spring is not going to stand up to 400+ ci once you flop those secondaries open.

The vacuum dashpot orafice controls the bleed down of the diaphram and thus the speed at which the air door opens from vacuum to WOT. That linkage is strong enough to hold the door closed at WOT and the door will only open as fast as the diaphram relaxes. Look into adjusting that hole size for a more controlled/slower opening. The vacuum hose nipple has a tiny hole in it, if you want to slow it down you can solder it and drill it smaller or install a restrictor in-line.

They open the gates at 5 and races start at 6. Usually you can get 3 runs in before the dew settles(if it does). These cars don't like the dew settling....

Well so far the weather is looking fantastic. 72 high and sunny.

Chris, you wanna come out and play?

I am awfully nervous, I hope the fuel pressure was most of the issue. I can't see the intake swap killing over 120hp. In theory this intake should be pretty darn good right now. Ryan thought we should see a couple hp from the swap. But if all else fails, I will swap the six-pack back on and see for sure. :cross

I am going to test in order, Different fuel system w/7psi max pressure, different msd box, different plug wires, another carb., converter, six-pack. Obviously not all in one night.

Oh and I was playing around with corner weights. Got the car to 50.9% front, 49.1% rear. End goal is 49- 51 without adding more than 50lbs. Mid 1.6 60's is the goal.

I'm gonna be in NYC for most of the week at a trade show.

Let us know how you make out. The TQ's flow, especially the 850's. I'd really like to see what the difference is between a properly setup six pack vs a TQ. I bet it would be surprising.

Brian, whats your e-mail addy??

utiboy2002@yahoo.com

Going into this I was expecting around a 30hp drop. After talking with ryan and looking at the intake after he worked on it he didn't think there would be a drop in hp at all. I can't accept that this intake is THAT bad that it dropped over 120hp.
We will be closer to knowing hopefully wednesday.
