John good to see the H/O doing what it does best. Jeremy how did you do? Did you acheive the twelve second time slip?

Yeah Jeremy you had me that round but I would of had you the next!!!! Did you check your trans??? You have three weeks until rent day.

The video I saw was our qualifier, so I'm not sure about that next run.
Your car did seem to be picking up though... :aok not sure I would have kept up.

Didn't even get the car off the trailer until after dinner today. The car will be ready though!

No 12 second slip... YET! It's definitely in the car now- was running low 13.1's all day with lousy (I mean terrible!!!) 60 foot times due to a bad bog and traction issues. I got the bog fixed but the tranny blew a seal and had to put it on the trailer.

In nice cool November air at Atco it'll be deeeep into the 12's.

As always with Jeremy and I however gets out first stays out front. I ran my Lemans convert and my H/O in the same race. My name is on the time slip for both lanes. Jeremy ran a 13.135 and I ran a 13.138. Talk about close racing.
:cheers :cheers

Headers, slicks and big Holley! :moon :moon

No, seriously I think it's there now- the air wasn't great ( Lane observed a 3500' altitude when my car did a 13.11), there was a head wind, I had a bog ( was in the process of tuning it out), couldn't hook (lousy 60', .1- .15 slower than normal ) and the car was carrying 50+ extra pounds ( mini starter took a dump so it had a heavy stock starter, had to carry a jumper box with me as the stock starter was having a veeerry hard time).
John's car has been there in better conditions and we were running side by side at LVD, sooooo........

A little more tuning and I know it's there. 8)

Still not pulling all the way through, but it was pretty consistent running a 13.4 each run. Running the bigger street tires so no tire spin. I ended up going three rounds six cars left, but....... went red my dial in was 13.35 his was 12.90 I also broke out by running 13.25 . I was lucky, first guy had nitrous controller issues, second guy redlighted. third guy ran a 13.30 on a 12.80 dial. fun still working on videos. :-D :pop

So I'm tuning on the car this morning I heading out to my test area. Just cruising through the the side streets and I hear a ticking almost a rap. oil pressure fine. temp fine, noise quickly getting bad, I swear I spun a bearing. Limp home the 1/4 mile. NOT happy. Pull the pan no trash in the oil and rods look fine, none loose, blue, ect. Pull valve covers and see Number 7 exhaust push rob has come out of the adjuster cup and is between the rocker body and the adjuster cup, Pull the intake manifold and nothing seems amiss. Cam lobes look similar to each other. Pull the rocker shaft and the ball on the end of the push rod dropped off. I'm going to pull the head to see if the valve hit the piston. The only thing I can think of is the lifter collapsed enough to drop the push rod out of the cup. I don't know. So if the valve didn't hit the piston I think the safest thing to do is replace cam, lifters, push rods and all the rocker adjusters.

Shouldn't have to pull the head. Can't see how you would get P-V contact by just having the ball broken off. Besides, there are other ways to check.

I don't think you "need" to swap the cam & lifters either, unless this is a good excuse to try a different grind. Adjusters aren't the most rock solid reliable things out there. Sometimes they break.

Just make sure to get a good set of adjusters, replace the pushrod if needed and button it back up.

But if you do put a new cam in, I agree with the guy above. :agree

The cam looks fine as does the lifter for that valve. The only thing that concerns me is that because the push rod move towards the rocker center line and the ball was attached until I took the rocker shaft off. It was wedged against the rocker. see picture. It that position with the same linear travel of the push rod would increase the lift. If I'm thinking straight.

Where was the broken ball? Pinned between the rocker and end of the pushrod? If it was missing then you lost peak lift by X amount. If it was pinned while it was running, go buy a lotto ticket.

I would think the pushrod would have gave if the valve hit. Either way, I'd either throw a straightedge across all the valve tips and or get ahold of a leakdown tester and check that way.
