Hal,

Are you volunteering to help with the wrenching etc?

I plan on racing the car with the skirts on (if allowed by the track) but 12's are not going to be in the near future.

The Chrysler "915" heads are the closed chamber big valve heads that were only produced in 1967 and are not easy to find. All of the heads that I have are open chamber heads which is what is correct for 1968. Any reason that you ask?

:dragster

Bill: If you ever need a hand, I drive thru Middletown every night on the way home. I could be available for motor installs or whatever.

Also I guess you haven't heard. I have added another MOPAR to my stable replacing the Nova.

Hal,

I know that you picked up a Shadow Convertible but had not heard that you sold the Nova or got anything else. Fill me in.

I appreciate your offer and may take you up on it.

Update:

I have sold my survivor '74 Dodge passenger van. I have a large deposit and await the balance. I have also sold some other things to fund this build and to purchase an enclosed trailer.

I have been buying some little and not so little items including a set of red-line bias belted tires. I need to get a hold of Billy at SuperCar central for a transmission checkup and to get the red-line's mounted. My goal is to have this (yellow) '68 Sport Fury ready by the Englishtown Mopar event in August if not sooner. This is the good news.

The bad news is that simply put, my back is shot and lifting, bending etc. are no longer something I can do unless I want to live on some heavy duty pain medication. The past 18 months have been pretty miserable at times but thankfully as of this post, I am doing much better. I'll need some additional help from my friends and my SuperCar friends. Having a ramp style lift in my garage is priceless.

Before the engine and trans go in, I need to:

Get a radiator recorded
Swap the pumpkin
Change the front brakes from drum to disc
Replace one or more parking brake cables that have been problematic
Install a tach and some gages
Have the driveshaft checked out and maybe upgraded
and a bunch of other little things.

I will try to post periodic updates and some pics as I complete some items on my to do list and maybe the pure stock 383 powered unrestored/survivor green '68 Sport Fury may show up at an event or two in the interim.

Well Bill, the offer still stands. If you need a second set of hands some night call me, :cheers although my body is shot too. I put the motor in the winter project I took on today. I had lots of trouble getting the crossmember in as my shoulders are shot. I remember when I used to bench 285lbs. oh well. Fortunately my sons were around to save the day. :bow

I dropped the transmission, tires and rims off at SuperCar Central this afternoon. Mr. Atwood now has more added to his plate.

I hope to have a couple of assembly sessions starting later this month to get the drivetrain, rear diff, front brake disc conversion and a few other things done to finally get this stalled project on track for completion by the end of June if everything goes well.

A used 24' enclosed trailer has been purchased to make life easier and cleaner.

Thanks Rhett. I am going to need help in a few weeks and if you are available, I will take you and others up on their offers to help.

I made a decision earlier this year to change directions with car and instead of putting together a stock class car, I made the decision to build a stock appearing car. I tried to keep this quiet but the proverbial cat has gotten out of the bag.

I am having a dual purpose 440 block engine built. It should be on the run stand for break-in within the next week to ten days and I should have it in my possession in a few weeks.

The plan is to start working on the brake swap, rear diff swap etc. next weekend. Those of you that have graciously offered help will be hearing from me.

The engine is a pump gas stroked 440 that is built to be a torque monster with a broad torque band given the weight of the car. Correct stock intake and correct C Body exhaust manifolds and mid-level head work.

Queen,

I hope to have the yellow Sport Fury ready to race at Englishtown in August. If it isn't ready, the green Sport Fury will make an appearance who knows, maybe my son will pilot the green Sport Fury at an event or two.

G2 and you will bond at some point and you will be going quicker.
