I want to start by saying, the SuperNova build is totally amazing! :bow In 74 Days, Ted and his crew have done an amazing job restoring the SuperNova. This is not just a repaint, drop a motor in and go racing project. Ted and the Dead End St. Crew (as they like to be called) removed the body from the frame, did a complete rotisserie restoration on the body, rebuilt, refinished and assembled the subframe, chassis, fabricated and installed a complete roll cage, completed most if not all the sub assemblies and are now in the process of wet sanding and getting the SuperNova ready for paint. The crew is not driven by one person, but instead driven by friendship that is determined to see the SuperNova compete at the SuperCar Ice Breaker on April 10th.

When I arrived early on sunday morning to assemble and reskin the SuperNovas seats, I witnessed six men working in harmony together to get the SuperNova done. Color was visible in all the jams and the crew was getting ready to Sand and massage the body of the SuperNova to perfection. By the afternoon, the body of the SuperNova was wet sanded to a finish that is as straight as an arrow.

I am certain once this SuperNova hits the 1320 in the next month, the Dead End St. Crew will be the proudest men at the track, knowing only months ago the SuperNova was just a thought. Like many works of art, the crew has added their signature to every nut they turned and screw they tightened.

Congrats guys....

Ted looking good!
The amount of work going into it in such a short time is quite a feat. My father and I are working on the Duster, but we've been working on it for a couple of years, your going to pass our point very soon. lol

Two questions:
Any pointers on seat covering? I attempted it, but ended up tearing one of the covers trying to get the wrinkles out, I think it was too cold, wasn't using a heat gun and I am cheap and keep the heat on at minimal while working. Don't want to send them out and cough up 400+, but the covers aren't cheap either, lol.

Your rollbar... Is it me or do you not have a d/s door bar? Or are you waiting to put seat in to see where it needs to be?

Brian call me when you want to do them. Also if you purchased covers from legendary call them, tell them what happened they will probably help you on the cost. FYI I have done a couple of dozen of these. The offer is for anyone who races in the SuperCar Series.

Thanks brian,
i have never done the covers before and ralph made it look easy...a few things i learned were, definitly turn up the heat and use a heat gun for sure!
i would take up ralph on his offer its worth it....just cost me some pankace mix

as for the roll bar, yes there is a D/S bar, we mocked it up with the seat in place and are waiting to put the seat in as its easier then fighting with it to get it in. We will cover up stuff and weld it in last.. :aok

as for the speed of the project, we did the chevelle in the same way, just not for racing ,as i wasnt into it then, but this nova is surely a deeper project, and i truly hope to go down the track in april.., of course it will be a shake down run as you can imagine but this will be my racer and i hope she boogies

Hows the duster, got some pixs for us :aok

Ted, its really lookin' good, from the last time I saw it. Ralph, really nice job on the seats!! :aok . Still waiting on engine parts myself, if the car isn't ready, I will still be there except with my camera. Maybe I can be the photo -taker in place of Walt. :roll

Makes sense. A big guy like you isn't going to put a swing out bar in?

Right now I am working on the wiring in the duster, trying to iron out all the little quirks so we won't have problems later on. It's amazing how many times so far I found the factory wiring diagrams inaccurate. :bang I didn't want to rely on crusty 30 yr old connections, and so far I found 4 disasters that could have burnt the car down in short order.
After that it's plumbing fuel and brakes which should be interesting with the subframe connectors, then finish detailing the suspension and brakes, then transmission goes in, motor goes in, order driveshaft, install all interior. :cross :drive

Laying the covers in the sun works wonders. I also read something about spraying the foam with silicone to prevent the foam from bunching in the cover but I would research that further.

I did some trans am seats but reused the foam. I guess the foam shrunk because the covers were a little loose.
