There was one running about 4-5 years ago. It went 11.50’s at 120 with tires that may not have have been 100% legal. It was before my days.
The more 383’s the better!

thats impressive.

Looking to go pure stock / stock appearing racing and not looking to set world records, but just to go to have a good time. was hoping to sell my demon to pursue a A12 car, but got to thinking if I got one of those Id worry about it being to valuable to race and worry about hurting a motor. 383's are still fairly reasonable to buy around here. Tried to get a 383 GTS Dart as my first car in 1987 but ended up with a 1970 383 Barracuda instead.

On Legal Tires the Dart went 12.0s. Legal tires are tires with tread. The quickest to date 383 is Bill Dicicco's with legal tires he went 11.90 @ 114MPH

Well, Bill’s 383 isn’t really 383 CI. So it would be very difficult to put a 383 CI B block in an A body and run 11.90’s as a stock appearing build. That being said, he is probably running 11’s while Keeping costs down better than anyone else. Not sure where in the country you are located, but a mid to high 11’s car put’s you in a very competitive group. Which is really what most people want. Close races. My 410 CI 360 based small block in a 68 barracuda fastback has run 11.80 with about $10,000 in the motor up to this point. Cars weighs 3445 going down the track. The motor is nothing fancy, but the heads are fully professionally ported. Solid flat tappet cam.
