if the proposed 1/8 mile track in Willimantic goes forward, would the Supercar series consider racing there?

The proposed land for the track already has an access road with a sign stating "Dragstrip coming" according to some sources that live near it.

Hoping but I won't hold my breath.

First it was the Mohegans.

Then it was the group who had the office in North Stonington. I don't remember where they wanted to build.

Then came the people who wanted to build the indoor 1/4 mile track in Plainfield.

Now these guys :cross

The place where a track could be built is at the Thomson Speedway site. They have the room and there is already an Oval Track there and they used to have a road course over there years ago. They already have run 300 foot drags on the Oval.

I met the guy that's spearheading this whole thing back in I believe 2007 when he started running the 100' drags and a car show at the Waterford Speedbowl. His name is Jay Eastgate, maybe some of you local guys know him also. He was very enthuastic about drag racing and seems like he would be good at promoting this. According to his website, he is further along than any of the other folks that have talked about bringing a drag strip to CT. I wish him luck. :cross
