I was surfing the other boards looking to see what’s up. I came across a post regarding the Pure Stock Drags. Diego started the post talking about how John Piazza'a 1964 Hemi Coronet at the Pure Stock Drags this past weekend. Excited to read the post I thumbed thru and noticed that they did not allow The Hemi to compete and only do exhibition passes :shrug . My question is what are they afraid of? This is a car that was built for all to own. The real deal not a clone and they would not allow it to compete if the event.

11.87 E/T @ 118 MPH. I am not sure who owns the car now. I thought it was owned by John Piazza But I think it may have traded hands. Maybe Scott McKenzie can fill us in on who owns "THE HEMI"

So are we saying here that the Hemi came in a street car available to the general public in 1964?

Yes it did. This is one of the examples sold. Grand Spaulding offered the 641 Hemi in there Hot Rod Magazine add.

So this car is a RPO. What is their reasoning for banning this car from competing? I assume they do not allow early Yenkos and Nickys but do allow COPOs.

So if I read that correctly... the engines were a factory install? Like GM COPO cars. If so, I see no reasoning behind their decision. :shrug They allow ZL1 Camaros, only 69 of those were built. So that throws the limited production argument out the window.
