Convertible and Dana

Which Dana?

A part was added to the body/chassis of any body style full-size Mopar that had a four speed. What part was added that was not installed on an automatic full-size Mopar? This is a tough one. Hint, the change is in the engine compartment.

Dana 53 and a fender tag that said it was a 4 speed car! :shrug

Fender tag - cute answer but not the answer that I am looking for. The rear is a Dana but not a Dana 60.

The underhood part that I am looking for can be viewed in the engine bay photo of this '68 Sport Fury factory 4 speed car that is for sale.

I guess no one has robbed a 440 out of a '66-'68 C Body.

I didn't say dana 60 I said dana 53. It's a 9 and 1/4 (different from the later 1970s 9 and 1/4). :pop

My reference to the Dana 60 was intended to inform anyone viewing that the fullsize cars used a different Dana, not to suggest that your answers were wrong.

Since this is a tough one, the second thing I was looking for is that on '66 - '68 four speed cars, Chrysler added a support brace from the firewall in the area were the clutch pedal mounts to the left inner fender to give the firewall more support stopping flexing.

Interesting. Don't see many 4 speed c-bodies around. Did they make many?

Rats, I thought the answer was going to be the optional Hot Tub that came in the trunk.

My book with production figures is out on loan. My recollection is that around 5% of the Plymouth Fury model line had a 4-speed. Most were behind a 383. Not a lot of 440 4-speed cars were out there. From what I have read, full-size cars with 4-speeds were popular with folks who live in states with a lot of mountains and were more popular in the western states.

I am impressed that both you and Ralph knew about the different Dana rear used in C Body cars. Those rear-ends are tough to to find.

Someone else needs to take a turn or two with a trivia question.

Hal, the hot tub option came on '70's GM wagons with the tailgates the went down into the body.

Why would a 1955 Nomad not be legal to run in Supercars but a 1956 & 57 be legal to run in Supercars?
