My plans are for a real low buck 360. Basically stock bottom end with some KB107 flat tops. It should put me right at 10.5:1. Not sure if I will be able to swing any port work so other then the cam it will be a stock 360. Im looking at to Hyd cams though a solid flat tappet may be better. The cams Im looking at are both Crowers.
Cam 1. 271 HDP INT/EXH - Dur @ .050” Lift: 222°/234° RR: 1.5/1.5 Gross Lift: .485”/.495” LSA: 112° RPM: 1800 to 6000 Redline: 6500

Cam 2. 282 HPD INT/EXH - Dur @ .050” Lift: 227°/237° RR: 1.5/1.5 Gross Lift: .480”/.503” LSA: 112° RPM: 1800 to 6000 Redline: 6500

However stock 340/360 4bbl cams are pretty small ay 210/224 @.050" and on a 114LSA. Will either of these sound stock enough ?

Hi Adam ,

Call Scott Brown, 616-499-6223. He is a GREAT guy to deal with and will grind a cam for your specific car and application. I just got mine in that I ordered last week. He will take the time to go over your whole setup and what you are running. I'm sure many members here will agree, he has the whole exhaust manifold thing figured out more so than any off the shelf cam you will try to find. My cam and lifters were $386 delivered to my door. Best of luck ! Dave

Small block you need to talk to Jeff Paterson on your build. He has it all scienced out. He is the Mopar small block Guru. His cams make great power and sound awesome.

JMHO - both of those cams listed are going to sound quite "rowdy" in a 360. I'm just going by the basic specs you posted. Need to know things like overlap to get a better picture of how they will react and sound.

It looks like the first cam has 4* overlap, and the 2nd one has 9*. Any idea what the factory cam has? Also something to consider, lift... I hear it is hard to add too much and keep it "stock" sounding. Example: Factory cam is .440-ish lift, a .500"+ lift cam is going to be noticeable.

I know you said you should end up with around 10.5:1 SCR... I would like to see what the DCR will be with each cam. Sometimes you can run a shorter duration cam and make more power.

Just food for thought... I'm no expert. Just someone that has dabbled in specing a few cams and have great contacts at Crane Cams. The two sources for camshafts mentioned here seem to produce great results based on the users here. I'm just stubborn and like to figure things out for myself.

Jeff had Engle custom grind one for me. Solid flat tappet, I do not like hyd. cams. the quality of the lifters is a crap shoot. I checked the lash once each year and it hasn't moved. I have been very happy with the cam,but have heard very good things about Scott Brown just no personal experience. Oh I run the lifters with the EDM hole. :pop
