Ive been trying to get a car done for years to compete and was pretty far along on my last one when I had to sell it. Last year I started doing a repaint on a friends 73 Duster. I had the car stripped to bare metal and what little body work it needed was done when he decided to sell the car. I picked it up for $4000 which may be pricey for a 73 Duster 318 but the car had come to CT from CA just a year before and was 100% rust free. I figured I was saving thousands on replacing sheet metal to more then justify the cost. Plus he had already given me money for materials so I was way ahead.

The car is F8 Green, F8 Interior. The only options are power steering, Fold down rear seat, passenger side mirror, remote hood release and a rear window defroster. Ive already picked up the correct 340 intake, carb and air cleaner. Still need the exhaust manifolds. The car has a Pypes 2.5" X pipe exhaust on it as well. My plans are for a low 13 second stock stroke 360 for now. 904 and 8-3/4.

Im sure it will be another year till she's on the road but I should have it in paint by summer.

Thanks guys. Hoping to make Musclepalooza this year. Missed it last year. I took my wife the year before and she loved it.

Well unless I hit lotto tonight (Got my tickets !) I wont be dominating but I'll be having fun none the less.

Ive been slowly taking parts off the car. Unfortunately just about anything rubber or plastic is so dry and brittle its falling apart. 90% of the interior went in the trash. The headliner is usable (probaly cause i didnt take it out LOL) the door panels were good. Seat have been changed and have upholstery shop covers on them but they are at least a stock looking pattern so I will just dye them for now.

All the hard plastic panels broke and got tossed. Today I pulled the instrument cluster out which fell apart also. It does look like I have enough room in it to pull the ammeter gauge out and put the guts of a small auto meter volts gauge in there though.

Wow, The summer got away from me. Sunday was the first time this year I had a chance to even look at the car. Thursdays I should be picking up a 360 to build. Saturday night the 318 comes out.

slow and steady. The body work is pretty much done. I have a few spots to touch up and need to spray the engine compartment. Then I can seal it and paint it.
