Well... that was short-lived. I fixed the key switch, only to find that the starter solenoid crapped out. New, AC Delco part on order. Maybe by next month it will be ready for exhaust and a front end alignment.

Update, got the starter out yesterday... it needed more than a solenoid. :( It BBQ'd itself pretty badly. Dropped it off for a rebuild yesterday, will have it back Monday. Today I am going to address the fuel leaks. And maybe if I feel froggy, get after the front brakes.

Between resigning from my main job, picking up more hours at my second job, enrolling in school, etc. - I just now got around to reinstalling the starter this morning. :bang

I have a day off again this Saturday, if it isn't raining in the morning I will get after it again. Just when I think I have my checklist near extinction, it grows. :shrug

Resolved the fuel leaks only to get kicked in the teeth again. Got it running, heard a bad noise... sounds like something is hitting the windage tray. I shut it off as soon as I recognized the sound. I'm done, unhooked the battery and shut the hood. Not sure when I'll feel like working on it again.

Really wishing I had broke it in on a test stand like I had wanted to.

How difficult is it to drop the pan in the car? It may only be that the windage screen warped funny after it got a little hot. I had a Buick once with bigger rods that banged against the old pan when it got hot. Dropped the pan welded up the hole it was making beat on it a little and it was good to go.

I'm still not 100% from my surgery on my arm last year. Plus no lift. I have to pull the nose to replace the core support bushings and realign panels. I was just hoping to drive it as is first. I'll be done with school in August, I'll attack it then.

Front sheet metal is off. Pulling the core support, engine and transmission Saturday morning. Got the door gaps worked out as well.

Keep plugging away. I'm at one year now and I'm close. I think...

Got this far along Thursday last week. Off work again tomorrow, hoping to get it out of the car and on the stand by tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks Hal, not much got done today. (My enthusiasm exceeded the ability of my arm today, hurts like hell.) Coolant drained, electrical and vacuum connections undone. Core support removed one piece with radiator and condenser attached.

The forecast calls for a tropical storm soon, going to spend the rest of the day making sure the property is storm ready. The wind has already picked up, reported 30 MPH gusts already this morning, supposed to get a lot worse tonight. :thunder

I was a determined SOB yesterday...

Today, after work I seperated the engine/trans. Engine is on the stand, waiting for me. If I have enough daylight after work tomorrow, I'll pull the pan and see what's going on in there.
