:aok Moving right along. What's in store for phase 2?

I need threads like these to help me stay motivated. Been sick for two weeks, so not much getting done around here.

Queen of Green,

The looks great. Are you located in the Middletown, CT area since that is where the body shop is?

Well it's been another exciting week for G2... No paint this week, scheduled for early next week but the bumpers came in. Aparently rear bumpers in good condition for a 73-74 Roadrunner are rare and hard to find. Rechromed rears without a core run $800 and that is if they can find them.... Slight panic set in when we removed the paint off the ones on the car and found lots of sanding and filler. They couldn't be chromed.
Walter P. must have been looking out for us as we found a set in Alburqurqe last week. And a decent price too. They arrived on Thursday and other than age and scratches, the metal was in excellent condition! Sent them off on their 'spa' vacation this morning to GA. Should have them back late December/early January.. Can't wait!
Next time I have to pick a car to restore that has more newly manufactured stock parts available!

OK, here are some 'action' shots of paint day 12-15. We got there just as they were starting to shoot the clear. What an awesome experience! The pics and video make it look like we were standing in the booth. Only a thin wall separated us so we got the full effect, sound and of course fumes... Bill says that should be a new Yankee Candle scent!
Here is the progression of paint day....
First the prep

This is one of my favorite pictures. This is the 2nd coat of clear going on and if you look at the hood you can see the difference...

So today's message from the shop is that she is almost put back together... New windshield going in tomorrow... She might be home by Christmas 2012! :santa
Bumpers safely arrived in GA and are being chromed this week. Should have them back in a week or so....
Some cosmetic upgrades (Grille, stripes/badges) and the exterior is almost done. Unfortunately wheel trim molding is next to impossible to find... We'll figure something out.. :roll

Soon it will be time to start on the interior!!! Carpet ordered and looking for bucket seats and center console.... Moving right along!! :aok
