I know this has been going on for a while but I have ignored it. Runs every Friday night at the Waterford Speed Bowl on the front straight-a-way. I know this goes on at some other Oval Tracks in the northeast too. I stopped at a neighbors house last saturday morning as I saw his backhalfed Nova in the garage. When I asked about the 2.24 time painted on the window, he said he was at the 100 foot drags Friday night. He has a serious race car and is second in points in the Comp class (there are two classes Comp and street) I guess I gotta go look this Friday. It's only about 10 miles from my house. Has anybody done this?

Ted, say it ain't so. There's got to be a Chevy there capable of taking down the MOPARs at their own event.

100 foot drags, I'll be there tonight.

Sounds interesting, I wonder how much gear you could run in a 100 FT. race :roll

Went to the 100 ft drags last night. I was told that turnout was low due to the threat of rain. There were about 30 cars in the street class and 11 in Comp. My neighbor with the 65 Nova ran some 2.10 second ETs. He said last week ther were 28 cars in Comp. I think he was the quickest there. His car seemed to hook well but he went out in the thrid round. The Comp class was won by a 40 Willys Pickup Gasser. The street class was down to a 63 Chevy and Jap car. The Jap car won even though he spun the tires the whole 100 feet.

The vib was right out of the early 60's. Time trials start at 6:30 I got there at 8 just before eliminations started. It was all over at 9:30. Racing gas is sold out of the back of a pickup. There was a small car show 20 cars. I think it is $25 to race, a pit pass was $5 and spectators in the grandstands are free. The speedbowl is a 1/4 mile track. The burnouts are done in the in the turn. The track is banked and the car on the bank always goes sideways when doing the burnout. If you win you just drive around the track and get back in line. There are no 60ft times so you can't really compare it to anything. The fastest cars are right around 60mph. There is going to be a 2.50 heads up index race later this season. If we ever wanted to race there I am sure something could be arranged. We would be like touring Pros. There are some videos on Youtube

I would try it. It is only eight miles from my house.
