There was a good interview with him last month in one of magazines.
i met him once at a super chevy event...shook his hand. have a couple autographed tshirts...

I learned an a$%load from his "cheverolet racing engine" book about 20 years ago.

My brother told me a story about watching him work on one of his grumpys monzas back mid/late 70s...had valve covers off...found a bent valve stem....put a pipe over end of valve stem and bent it back "perfect" he said...put the spring back on and went and won the next round! pretty cool...

Rest in peace Bill Jenkins...

Interview was in Super Chevy. Grumpy was a hero of mine growing up. Met him for the first time when he walked into my dad's shop in the summer of 1970 to look at a Bridgeport we were selling.

When I was a kid, I used to hang on the fence at CT Dragway .to watch these guys in action. I loved Stricklers 63 Z11 Impala, the Black Arrow but my favorite of all time was Jenkins A/S 66 Chevy II. I saw that car run the 1966 Super Stock Nationals at NY National Speedway. Jenkins went thru everyone that day to win Stock Eliminator including Hemis and a 427 Galaxy in the final.

I've been kind of looking for one for over 2 years. Either they are heavily modified drag cars (tubbed Ford rears with strut fronts) or restored big bucks cars. The search goes on.
