Hal is Jealous of Shawn :moon and Hal still owns his 1967 Impala 427 4Spd. that he bought new in 1967. If we twist his arm enough he may race it this year :cross .

Ralph doesn't realize that Hal won't be driving his 69 SS427 stick with his messed up Achilles Tendon. It hurts pretty good right now when he tries to brake with his right foot and Ralph is getting fat too.

Hal Knows that Ted looks just like Hal's older brother and Hal loves Ted just like a brother. And although Ted rows a 4 speed pretty good, Ted is not driving Hal's 4200 pound Impala as Ted breaks too many parts.
