Thought this was interesting. Never have driven the Autobahn but not sure I'm buying the suggested speeds here...just does not seem that fast given other cars and landscape? Nevertheless, would be pretty cool to do!!

I have driven on the Autoban in Bavaria. About half the expessways had speed limits always near the cities and towns. In Germany no one is allowed to drive in the left lane unless you are passing. After you pass you have to get your ass back in the right lane. The interesting signs are those which define the end of a speed limit zone. It will be like 100 with a circle around it and a line through the circle meaning end of 100km zone so go as fast as you want.

The first time I drove there the home office gave me an Audi A4 with a stick. (Almost all cars in Germany are sticks) It went about 120 mph top speed. The second time I was to get a Caddy. I was surprised that they would have an American car and all excited as I thought it might be something fast. It turned out to be a VW Caddie which is a little diesel van. It would only go 100 mph flat out in 4th or 5th gear. but it got about 40mpg. Most of the fast cars I saw on the Autoban were big Audis and BMWs and lots of BMW and Italian bikes They were probably zipping along at 140-150 mph. I only saw one American car a big old Buick Vista Cruiser station wagon, which I thought was kind of strange.

Maybe next time I can talk my Boss into letting me drive his Porsche.

My favorite 60 Minutes segment of all time 1987: Lamborghini http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRxP8p3x0hY

Not sure I linked correctly but just type in 1987: Lamborghini 60 minutes

180 mph on a country road. I love the Italian outlook on things:

The white one shes a like a Virginal woman
The red one she's a like a Mature woman
The black one she's a like a Mysterious woman
