Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a Dana rear end for the super bee? I spoke with Doctor Diff on the phone today he seemed to be a nice guy to deal with, price for dana was about $1800 not including shipping from Montana.... Car currently has an 8 3/4 489 housing rear end in it, open non sure grip. He said that I would be better off just spending the extra few hundred bucks and going to a dana rather than beefing up the rear end I have in it, or putting a spool with 35 spline axles in it and limiting the street use significantly. Comments, advice or someone in the area to deal with would be great.

The only reason to go with the Dana is to have the Bee look the part as an A12 clone. Your better of with the 8.75 rear. You won't break the 8.75. Also you have a better selection of gear ratios with the 8.75. Weight is also a big factor. Go with a 3.73 gear in a 8.75 rear or if your going to make this an all out drag car then 4.10 or 3.91 Ratio. I have a 3.73 in my Bnt Orange Road Runner and love it.

Dr. diff is very nice to deal with, I bought a ring and pinion and yoke from him. The 8 3/4 is pretty strong. even with a four speed, the little tire doesn't really let you shock the rearend. To redo the 8 3/4 its about $400 for the new clutch limited slip,$80 in bearings,$200 in new ring and pinion,$40 crush sleeve eliminator, seals, if you can do it yourself its about $800. its been a couple of years but I think dr diff will put together a center section for about $1000. He even makes sure the sure grip isnt warp from the factory. If you decide to go Dana and want to get rid of the 489 pumkin, I would be interested in it, I plan on going to 4:10 and you can't get them for the 741 case, but I would keep the 8 3/4. :pop :pop :hungry :hungry

If your driving the Bee on the streat stay away from a spool. I have an Eaton posi unit that works perfect in the Burnt Orange RR.

Rhett thanks for the reply. I have an extra 489 center section if you need it let me know. Ralph, is the eaton true trac the unit that you have? I have heard and read really good things about that unit, good on street, doesn't clunk in and out and is very good so far as strength on the track.

I bought the Eaton True-Trac for my 489 case from Doc Diff last spring for $510, along with a 3.73 ring & pinion, u-bolt yoke, crush sleeve eliminator, bearings, seals, etc, it was just north of $900 total. Shop prices first then call Doc Diff and tell him what you found. As others already said, he was great to deal with. Good luck.
