Hello,

I'm happy to report I reached another milestone yesterday, I started the car up for the second time and it went well. The oil pressure and engine temp was good, and no leaks anywhere. Also, I drove the Bee up and down the street but I did have a couple of issues that I need to work on, the biggest issue being my charging system is not working right, so I'll work on that next.

But she sounds oh so nice! It feels so good to get my car off the jack stands and out in the drive way for a bit. Parked in the garage, it looks like it sits low like a low rider I'm so used to seeing it up on stands.

I have a video but I was unable to post it...the error message said it was to large.

A special thanks to Bob K. for keeping me focused and on point with the tranny-set up and torque converter selection, along with the engine start up process!

Thanks, Juan.

Wow, I figured it would be a roller. Rule restricted? Or? Just curious. I bet you are chomping at the bit to go for a "spin." :-D

I am building a factory/pure stocker, and already dying to drive it. My shortblock is done, waiting on cylinder heads currently. Keep us updated! :aok

No, I went with a hydraulic cam for a couple of reasons:
-I wanted to keep that sixpack feel and sound
-I didn't want to deal with adjusting valve lash
-I don't care for the ticking sound of some solid cams
-And I wanted to follow in the foot steps of what the Chrysler engineers intended when they built the 69 A12 440 sixpack cars...a bad ass car you could drive to the track, race it, and then drive home, and so I think I got that with my engine combo with 556 HP and 570 TQ per the DYNO session.

Thanks, Juan.

Wow some nice power out of that bad boy. Alot of people at the track are going to be very suprised when they see it in the pits and then see it tear down the quarter mile.

Sounds healthy. What mufflers do you have on it?

Howdy,

I started the car up for the 4th time this weekend, and I actually drove the Bee around the neighborhood and smoked the tires a little! I had a couple folks honking at me. I think the charging issue is fixed; I had the field wire from the engine harness connected to the ground not the field connector on the back of the alternator.

However, a couple other issues came up as I was driving it.

-the engine temp climbed to over 200 degrees-I think the radiator hoses maybe collapsing on me
-the car won’t start up after I’ve had it running for awhile
-the exhaust is bumping against the drive shaft loop causing a rattle
-the throttle linkage sticks every once in awhile-I have to use my foot to lift the gas pedal

But on the road the car feels like a rocket…I mean smoke the tires at anytime, the best part is sitting in the car while I’m coasting down the road. I can hear a deep rumble from inside the car…it reminds me of the sound from the CH-47 Chinook helicopters I use to ride in from my Army days…sounds like a turbine engine…must be all that compression, I love it!

here is another link in case the first one doesn't work.

hello,

i don't know what mufflers are on the car, they were on there when i bought the car. i've checked but i can't see any markings, they look like stock mufflers.

thanks, juan.

Congratulations on your new engine, it sounds great!
Once you work the bugs out, make sure you post some E.t. & MPH numbers :-D

hello shawn, i've taken it to test and tune a few times. i'm having a tough time getting any type of traction but i'm still working on it. i took the summer and fall off to dedicate more time to work but i hope to get back at it this coming spring 13.

thanks for asking, Juan.

DUDE! Don't leave us hanging like that. How has it run so far on the shake down passes? Please share your results, I highly doubt anyone would bash you. It's clear that the learning curve is steep with that much power on tap and a limited tire.
