Great info to post Ralph. It is quite depressing but hopefully this reality hits folks beyond our forum. Unbeleivable that we were "once" the manufacturing envy of the world!

That is some sad stuff. I think those pics are actually Ford's Dearborn plant. Where they made Mustangs as well as many other vehicles. I could be mistaken, though.

It is rather sad to see where the automotive industry in the US has become. This is what helped make the middle class. I feel the quality issue is at the this point and time is a percieved issue not a real one. All my vehicles are either Ford or GM products, sorry Ralph no Dodge. Just an example of quality for with my fleet vehciles we get no less than 250,000 miles of severe service out of them. I have a 99 ford 350 with the diesel motor and it has 320,000 miles on it. The first major repair on it was the transmission 25,000 miles ago. This is a vehicle that push snow, pulls trailers and so on. This is just sample of what we get out of our equipment. Hopefully :cross the tide will turn where one is not considered to be a rebel to buy American. I try my best right down to my work boots which are made by Redwing in Minn. :USA

I hate seeing pic's like that, I've been seeing some car commercials lately showing the assembly lines with all the robots, and are quick to point out to my boys...that not so long ago those were people, and that the auto industry in the US was once one of the largest and most respected in the world....it's a shame, even my new Camaro was made in Canada. :(
I'd love to see some now & then videos of an assembly line start to finish.
