It's listed as "pending" not sold on their site. It didn't show up on their Twitter feed either.

There appears to be an issue with the car VIN and Paperwork. The car was pulled from the auction. Ryan may have more info.

Was it supposed to be a real car? I just figured it was built to 427 specs.

The car was not allowed to run through the sale because there was a problem with the vin number. To my knowledge (I am friendly with someone who knows the seller very well) small world, the vin on the dash was partially unreadable. Therefore Mecum would not allow the car thru the sale. The guy that now owns the car was the same seller who sold the 68 z28 and No Saled Multiple 68 and 69 chevelles. I do believe the car is ripe for the plucking after the hellaciously (if that's a word) poor selling day he had at Mecum. He did have some of the nicer cars there but overall the quality of the cars sucked.

I guess that explains the disparity in $$ for all the LS-6 Chevelles. The rag LS-6 with docs got to 270K but didn't sell.

There is a lot of deception at all of those sales as far as actual "real money" bids. If you pay close attention there is a lot of back pedaling by the auctioneers which is an indication that they ran the money past a real bidder. That is a supreme NO NO in the wholesale auto world but it is common place in the collector car world of unsuspecting hobbyists.

Greg, how many time do you think you might have bid against yourself? I suspect at least once or twice during the 16 years I was buying cars I might have done it. :bang :bang :bang

I get what you're saying Hal. I'm selling at the auction not buying, but back pedaling 5 to 10 grand, lifting the reserve and then selling the car would never fly at any of the wholesale auctions. In my humble opinion taking advantage of people who don't know better is unethical.
