+1 It has got to be extremely close to a "test pass."

Life, work and a troublesome back seam to keep on getting in the way of garage time... You don't know how much I wish the car was ready for LVD.

Sadly, the Sport Fury will not be ready for Saturday. Once I finish what I need to do, with some help from Rhett, the car needs to go to SuperCar Central so Mr. Atwood can set the car up engine and suspension wise, fabricate an exhaust and align the front end.

I have found out that building a stock appearing car vs. a pure stock car requires a whole lot of little and not so little changes that take time and money. I hope to have the car ready for Etown. However, once I am done with this car, then I need to do some work on what Hal calls my apartment on wheels that serves as my preferred/primary tow vehicle.

How true, I spent most of the day on the motor home evicting Mice, cleaning inside, changing oil, reinstalling the coach battery, checking air pressures, hooking up the trailer. Still have to clean outside before next weekend. Then it was on to the Belair. All this stuff is sure harder as you get older. :sick I'll be ready for next Saturday though. I hope you can get it done Bill.

Getting older is definitely a factor. While you have a decade plus on me, the age Gods have not been kind to me. There is just no way the car will be done for Saturday. Even if I finish putting it together, it still needs to go to SuperCar central for some work.

Thankfully, I don't have any mice to evict out of my RV but I need to change the oil (22 quarts), find a fix & a fuel issue that I think is either air in the line or a clogged (diesel) fuel filter, tend to a few issues and clean it up. Have fun on Saturday.

Ted, when you hire a spy, you get what you pay for. Sometimes they just lay down on the job.

Rhett, in my opinion, is more than a champion at the track. He is the perfect representative of what SuperCar is all about.

Rhett has spent a lot of time working in my garage on my car and his help is priceless. Thanks to Rhett, the engine in the Sport Fury roared to life Thursday night around 9:30 PM with only head pipes for an exhaust system. Yes, it was loud but it is was a good loud, although my neighbors may disagree. So far, none of my neighbors have said anything. The Sport Fury will be moving out of the garage tomorrow and on to my open trailer for a trip to SuperCar central for tuning, an exhaust system, an alignment, suspension adjustments and a bunch of other things.

Rhett, I can't thank you enough for all of your help. I am still grinning from ear to ear after having that engine come to life.

I will get some updated photos posted and if someone can host a video, I will try to get one of the Sport Fury leaving the garage.

That's my newest yoga position "fat man upside down stuffed in a footwell" it is only for the advanced yogist! :runaway The car sounds mean! Throttle response is crisp, idles is smooth. I put about 12 deg initial not sure where it will be permanently. After figuring out that we had a bad starter relay that had a internal short. :bang Determining we had forgot to make up a neutral safety wire. :runaway other than the relay we found each issue pretty quickly so it went pretty smooth. Engine fired right up. :pop :pop

Rhett, great funny come back!

With no exhaust system except for head pipes, she sounds great and is very loud.

Here are some updated engine bay photos:

Off to see the wizard....

Dropped the Sport Fury off this morning at SuperCar Central for Mr. Atwood to work on.

I still need to put the fender skirts and 15" disc brake style wheel covers on.

This project is finally getting close to being done.

In March of 2010, the 318 auto drivetrain was yanked and in June 2010 the car was dropped off at my friend and paint & body man's house to do the engine compartment and to touch up a few other areas. The car was painted in 1998 but the engine compartment was never painted then.

Originally, I planned on putting in a warmed over 383 to run in pure stock but things and the project changed and now there is a Nick Wilson/Compu-flow "440" between the fenders that Nick delivered to Carlisle last year for me.

I can't wait for Billy Atwood to finish his work on the car so I can put some miles on her and then put some 1/4 mile times on her. I definitely will need a TNT day. Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement - especially Ralph.

I picked up the Sport Fury from SuperCar central/Billy Atwood yesterday after the final task was completed. Billy put a great tune-up on the car and she sounds awesome with the TTI exhaust.

I drove her home yesterday afternoon - about a 35 minute drive, mostly highway, trouble free and with good engine and transmission temps. My initial impression is that the car is going to be happier on the track than on the street. The build has exceeded my expectations.

Once I get her cleaned up and pull the wheelcovers out of storage, I will post some photos of the finished car. I plan to be at the new vs. old event later this month. Hopefully the learning curve of getting her down the track will be short.
