All,

Based on what I've read in the rules for stock appearing, does that mean I may run a Buick, Pontiac or Caddy carb on my 442? They have front inlets. However, they do have subtle (depending on your point of view) variation in appearance. I ask because both Pontiac and Buick for example offer 800 cfm versions of Quadrajets. Of course, I'm looking for an inexpensive way to increase cfm.

Thanks,
Scott

YES. in somecases if you can swap the top like a carter go ahead. Keep the carb externally correct. Mike D had asked the same question.

3.00 FUEL SYSTEM AND CARBURETOR
3.01 The carburetor must appear externally correct. The stamped part number need not be correct. Internal modifications are OK and larger CFM carburetors are allowed as long as they maintain the stock appearance of the factory correct carburetor. For example an 800 Quadrajet can replace an 750 Quadrajet as long as it appears externally correct, however a vacuum secondary holley cannot be replaced with a mechanical secondary Holley.
3.02 Carb choke flap and assembly is optional.
3.03 Choke horn removal is not allowed.

Scott,

Put that big 800cfm on!!!! Will we see that W-30 hit the 12's this year?
I'm sure Wayne has some connections to trick out a Q-Jet!!

Steve,

I look forward to seeing the W-31 done. Wayne and I had both those cars painted at the same place at the same time. Scott's got one nice car, very original and very complete. I kind of think of the two cars as sort of related (having had their restorations started together by two friends from Maryland) and look forward to seeing them together at the track.
