Can you define what welded mufflers are? Are Flowmasters 40 series considered welded mufflers? Just trying to understand what's good to use. Thanks, Scott |

A welded muffler is a Pypes, Flowmaster style muffler. The case is welded instead of a crimped case. In the last year or so, Pypes came out with a welded muffler that looks stock. It has an oval case, very nice piece . I have them on my HP2 Belvedere I. 4.04 Mufflers must be stock looking in design (Welded mufflers not encouraged). Maximum muffler inlet and outlet is 2.5”. |

Looking for the best flow through muffler that fits the rules. I think my dyno max super turbo are hurting me. |

I would go with the Pypes mufflers and take the points hit. It is the best muffler available and looks stock. |

I agree w ralph(finally) I used to be that welded looked totally race! But alot of them now are very neat, and oval as opposed to square with rounded edges! I just changed from the cross flow i Had to two welded! Didnt see more mph last week, but i think it sounds more mellow! Definitly ditch the turbo mufflers There are some good offerings from borla too, that are oval, strait thru, and look pretty stock |

Probably the best crimped style non welded muffler is these http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers.php?muffler=ultrafloss 17283 is a common 2 1/2" configuration that works well on most cars..side in center out. They are "straight" through with perforations with some sound absorbtion material. |

Thanks I had just come across the Dynomax ultra flow, which seemed to fit the bill, when I thought I'd ask. Jeff who spec my cam told me they were probalbly hurting me, but until I saw an animation of the super turbo's flow I never figured it was so much of a restriction. Two 180 degree turns |

I think the dynomax are great The problem with most test results ive researched on line is...... Who's doing the test!! Just stay away from the turbo type or the chambered! |

Agreed on that video ..Thanks! I new my camber was off and nose was sky high but that tells me tons. The camber is skewed because car was 1 inch higher on pass side when aligned...when i reset rear springs so car didnt sit crooked it made the camber on driver side go in and pass side go out just from the tilt of the car! I also have way to much front travel and the driver side a arms is binding at full drop. i think it get stuck at full extension! |

It doesn't look like the toe is changing that much at full drop. really packing some air under the nose. It seems to be an issue all the quick cars have. |
