SuperCar Races Rules committee wants to use our Tech Forum to keep our racers & enthusiasts informed on tech items that may be important to the performance of a Factory Appearing Musclecar.

Tire Tech

The first topic to be discussed in this Tech Q&A is about the tires we run on. We want to make the obvious clear- we run on Polyglass Tires. The most important factor to remember, these are Factory Appearing Stock Tire Musclecars that run on Polyglass street tires. If the tires don't look stock and don't have tread on them, they are considered slick's by other racers and fans that look at our racing series.

All the repop tire treads are similar in design, 4-6 deep circular tread grooves with smaller grooves and sipes within those rows. There must be evidence of the original main tread grooves over the whole tire to be legal. Any bald sections or patches where the original main groove disappears and the tire must be replaced.

Most important if your tires are questionable, make sure you bring an extra set to qualify and compete with. Tires will be inspected before during and after the event is completed and must have all of the main treads showing. This is not a rule, just common sense.

this is good ralph, its a safety issue and keeps with the spirit of this style of racing!

i will be changing my tires before the next race, as they have gotten very bald!

any other thoughts? lets hear it guys!

hey mike derasmo, what do you think of your first outing on polyglass tires?

looks like you where doing ok considering you were running a stick!

A set of tires will last you 2 to 4 seasons if rotated.

On the tire note Ted, even though my car is still VERY stock, I feel the glass tires did wonders for my traction issues. I am happy I went too that tire, plus, it keeps me in compliance with the rules. I personally like a stock muscle car, so, no prob!!! :aok

with a little more weight reduction of the car, and alittle more power tuning
you will definetly hit your goal of 100 plus mph

this would cost very little :-D :-D

i am sure you will then have a new goal of lowering your E.T.

I would suggest a gear change first, say, 4.11

this will be the most bang for your buck, and lower your E.T. noticeably
plus it will always work with any future mods. you make to the drive train :aok

:agree a gear change would work real well. Call Billy Atwood Auto Services of Old Saybrook. 860 388-6838 He Did Ted's gear change as well as all of mine. Also when you go to see Ted Jannetty make sure to mention you race in the SuperCar ShootOut. He will give you some great discounts...

Fuel Pressure is so big. You are right we need to talk about Fuel Pressure. Many would run better E/T's if they knew what was going on with fuel pressure as well a save parts and repairs.

Thanks for the advise!!! I do how ever already have a 4.10 rear and with the 4-speed have a 2.20 1 st., if I am not mistaken. :drive Mike. ps. ted I'm gonna try and shoot for tuesday to hit that machine shop. He is doing a 312 for a '53 merc and said then would be best so we could spend some time too talk mo- power not "mopar"!!! lol

On my duster I bought a Mallory 110 which doesn't require a regulator, put it in and checked the fuel pressure once. I did have a major issue first couple times out with the car cutting out before the stripe. Turns out my T-quad had some itty bitty needles and seats and the bowls were emptying faster than the pump could fill 'em.
