Many racers have called and asked questions about the Trunk area. Your rules committee has taken this matter seriously and has an outline for all to follow.

Rule 1.12 will be added to the Supercar Rules. this will answer any questions raised in the past weeks. Please feel free to comment on this rule in this thread.

1.12 The trunk may be used to house modifications other than those explicitly stated as illegal (nitrous etc.) and its appearance is not a tech item. However, like other modifications to the car, Supercar Races encourages* the racer to make any reasonable attempt to maintain a stock or "stealth like" appearance.
*Note, The Trunk area is a non Teched area you are allowed to house any modifications and are not required to conceal them. You may be asked to open your trunk so we may check for hidden Nitrous etc.

10.01 The battery must be retained in the correct location, be functional and securely fastened down with original style hold down.

Note- This is the identical rule for both Supercars and FAST. A functional battery produces 12V when completely disconnected. A dummy battery does not. Therefore battery "relocation" is illegal.

10.01 was a long standing rule but was just brought up to address the "relocation" aspect but I think its also important to announce another rules amendment the commitee agreed upon.

10.04 Rear mounted battery disconnect shutoff switches are allowed on cars originally equiped from the factory with rear or trunk mounted battery.

A cutoff switch is a "race car" feature that is definately not stock appearing. However, since certain track safety organizations require a switch for trunk mount batteries, prohibiting them altogether would create a dilema for cars delivered with a trunk mount battery. Since 10.01 requires the battery to be in the stock location, we will allow cutoff switches only on cars delivered from the factory with a trunk mount battery.

Supercar racers need to pass the track's safety inspection and Supercar rules. The Safety inspection is the tracks responsibility and enforcing the Supercar Rules is ours. The supercar rules have been written to not stand in the way of any safety requirement of which there is no alternative (example, rollbars, seat belts, overflows). It is the racers responsibility to satisfy both sets of requirements and hope that a racer strives to meet both to the best of their knowledge.

Yes to both. The easiest place to hide things is in plain sight....

The weight advantage is too good to pass up.

SuperCar Races Rules Committee has been asked to clearify- Trunk rule 1.12. The Rules Committee has added this verbage to the rules page to clearify any questions that may have been raised in the past few weeks. We at SuperCar Races value your input and have taken the proper actions needed to clearify any misinterpretations one may have had.
