I would like to start the discussion around a possible E/T and MPH limit in SuperCars. Many of you have expressed the interest in a possible rule to limit E/T and MPH to tighten up the field and also to attract current and new competitors to build to a limit.

I would like to start this conversation with a possible 11.490 E/T 125 MPH limit with a break out to adjust for weather and track prep. The under limit would be plus .400 tenths and plus 2 MPH. This would allow a competitor to run 11.090 max and 127 MPH max. The limit would be enforced during eliminations. The competitor would have three qualifying attempts to reach the E/T / MPH limit. If the competitor runs under the limit in qualifying his or her E/T MPH will be factored and the appropriate starting position will be assigned. The competitor closest to the limit with out going under will be the number one qualifier.

This is one example to open the conversation around a possible E/T and MPH limit for the class.

Heres a thought!

Lets make it about the driver!!

We have alot of races including a possible road course next year for our "other cars"

Leave the traditional supercar class as is for a majority of the races, and make a few of them pre determined bracket races, and then somehow include the road course in the points race too.
This would be a real driving experience while not messing with our traditional program

It would be quite a thrilling year

So that we are on the same page. This is to keep the racing close. Nothing to do with the points. If the majority like the way it is and don't want to change it then we don't.

Car one runs 11.00
Car two runs 11.10
Car three runs 11.15
Car four runs 11.20

Qualifying order would be
Car two is qualitfied number one
Car three is qualified two
Car one is qualified number three
Car four in qualified four

The Lime Rock outing has nothing to do with SuperCars Racing.

Maybe because I am only 1/2 Italian, but I still don't get it. All four cars are under the proposed 11.49 index. What is this adjustment accomplishing? :shrug With what you stated earlier isn't car four number one being closest to the index?

Follow-up thoughts. I don't have the resources or interest in having the fastest car out there. As far as I know there is no other nitch racing group other that FAST that runs heads up. If the group chooses to stay heads up then I do not see any reason to change the current rules. I will come out anyway.

I would love to see a variety of people and cars win top Eliminator at different events, but maybe that's just me. The last thing I would want to see is the series ruined if the regulars lose interest.

My understanding is that it has always been the goal to get at least 16 cars to show up so that 2 brackets of 8 can be done with the 8 fastest in one and the 8 slowest in a second bracket. I am fine with the consolation races for those that don't win in the quick 8. This is for fun and needs to be kept simple. If we can get enough slower cars to show up then there will be closer competition. The newer racers, myself included, need coaching from the veterans and with coaching, improved times should happen and that should make most of the newer racers enjoy the racing more.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't think it's broke and therefore it does not need fixing. Also, the really fast cars are what attracts spectators and without spectators the tracks may not be as accommodating.

I'm thinking the same thing. Not a fan of slowing the cars down or doing any kind of handicapping… or bracket racing.
