Got a line on a 63 409 that i believe is not real but its said to be all there!
Needs a rebuild motor, possibly bodywork etc but not terrible car!

What should i do?

S/A??
Nostalgia??

Run away?

The only replacement block/heads are aluminum!

But a 4 speed dual quad positraction 409 is on my "cool" list

Is it an Impala or the holy Grail of 409s a Bubbletop? What's wrong with a Nostalgia Super Stock??? :drive

You got to do it just to make me happy. Maybe you'll need a driver for handicap racing with lots of 4 speed experience. :rock

Stock appearing would be a challenge, but what a challenge! That's a mans car it is.

I know at least one of those cars in pure stock trim has gone high 12s. I say go for it, they have a killer cool factor.

Hayden Proffitt ran high 11s with 12.5-1 compression and a .511 lift cam 4:56 gears and shitty tires and track prep in 62 at 3550lbs. Prepaired A/S sticks ran mid 12s at 11-1 compression. These cars can go pretty good. Oh, did anyone mention , they are cool too. :aok

Ted, 14" only, that includes the wagons too. But whats wrong with G70-14s? You do get 4 link well 3 link suspension.

For the rear suspension I would go with a boxed lower control arm and then add an additional upper torque arm which is what they did back in the day. From people who I have spoken to who raced these cares back in the day the additional torque arm would really reduce that axle hop these cars like mine are know for. Man I really want to see this car and then see it in action. Would love to see that launching with the left front tire in the air with the right on the ground thanks to that wonderful X-frame

Believe it or not the only two different sizes where 7.00-14 and on the station wagons it was 8.00-14 a big whopping difference of 4 1/2" tread versus 4 3/4" tread on the road from the factory so the G70 are a huge advantage
