My trim tag appears to have a - - where the paint color codes would normally be. It's very faint in that area of the trim tag. I am unsure of the original color, because - despite the low mileage (49K), it had been stripped to bare metal and repainted at least once. I was unable to find any real remnants of original paint on the main body.

Anyhow... the car was painted nearly 6 years ago before I was aware of this kind of racing. It is a factory color, just not what was widely offered in 1972. My question is - will I be DQ'd for this? There are documented 72's painted the same color as my car. It's not a loud and obnoxious shade. I have been told to say, "It's close, but not exact." I do not have it in my budget, nor do I have the place to repaint the car.

Here is a picture of the car before I yanked the incorrect engine and began to redo the entire drivetrain. (Yes, I know the headlight bezels need to be black. My originals were pitted bad, and I robbed these from a malibu parts car. I haven't gotten around to masking & painting them yet.)

Other than the color, I don't think anyone will be able to nit pick much about the car. I have hunted down every exact part # piece needed, and even picked up an NOS heat stove assembly to connect to the 71'-72' specific cowl induction air cleaner base.

Danube Blue. I'll see if I can find any pictures of it in the sunlight. Sadly, I haven't driven the car in all the years of ownership.

Since I haven't had a chance to get the car out into the light of day, here are a few pictures of a car the same color as mine in different lighting.

You can see how much it differs with being in the direct sunlight.

Hey Brian, I don't think you'll need to worry about the shade of blue. It's not an objnoxous shade of green metal flake!!!!! I'd say your good.

Finished with work early today, headed out to the garage to work on it now. Maybe I'll get it running this year?
