Hello and welcome Sunger, I know of one 64 dodge polara 440 that originally came with a 426 street wedge auto golden anniversary for sale and the man wants 7500 and it's a major project! I'm talking the car's been sitting outside for 20 years. The body and interior is complete but it's rough. The motor in it now is a 440. The VIN on 64s is not as nice as the 68 and later years but you can get basic info from the 64 VIN but it helps if you read alot and do your homework. Try out this website http://maxwedge.com/ Darrell Davis also makes great ref books that are very awesome! I have 4 of his books and I don't even own a car from the maxwedge/street wedge era.

That's a very nice car. Good luck.

Juan

Sunger,

Where are you located and where is the car located? With the price range that I am estimating that this car is worth, it definitely warrants someone knowledgeable looking at it. $500 paid to the right appraiser could prevent a $25,000+ mistake.

Ask the seller on the phone some pointed questions such as why would he spend all this time and money on this car just to sell it. Did he buy it to restore and resell?

I am not an early B Body expert however two things jump out at me. The interior of the trunk should be painted body color. In the photo, it looks like the trunk is sprayed with Chevy/GM trunk spatter paint. The bottom of the gas tank is undercoated. That could have been done by a dealer. I can't tell for sure but it does not look like the the rest of the car is undercoated. For the gas tank to be undercoated and correct, the rest of the car should be undercoated. However, in my experience, the factory did not always apply undercoating to the gas tank but that varied somewhat from factory to factory.

With regards to the drivetrain, I am sure someone has told you off line that it is all about the date codes and what is stamped on the block.

Good luck with your decision etc.
