The 2009 Firecore50 Challenge three race series at Carlisle
was filled with fun and surprises for the SuperCar ShootOut participants.
The SuperCar ShootOut was revved up and ready to show the hobby what Factory
Appearing American Musclecar Racing on Stock Tires is all about. With our
agreement with Custom Wire sets (FireCore 50) and Carlisle Productions,
the three parties set out to put the hobby on it’s heels by bringing exciting
racing to the Ford, GM and Chrysler venues that draws enthusiasts from
across the country and beyond. Our Race Series Sponsor, FireCore 50, put
up a purse filled with cash and prizes totaling over $1500.00 to be awarded
to the participants of the three race series.
With all of the details finalized, we set off to take
part in Race one of the three race series. Ford’s @ Carlisle. The weather
forecast was not on our side for Friday, the day scheduled for competition.
Saturday & Sunday were the days set aside to take part of the famous
Fun field activities. Mother Nature decided to keep the racers sidelined
for the Ford Event. After discussions with Quarter Aces Dragway, we decided
this would not happen at the next two events; we would have a rain date
of Sunday for the GM and Chrysler events if the weather decided not to
cooperate.
On Saturday, we took ownership of our oversize show field
tent and did what we do best, promote the SuperCar ShootOut to all the
Fords at Carlisle enthusiasts. This was not that hard, we were given prime
real-estate on the fun field by gate three next to the main entrance- and
having a Hemi Powered Plymouth under the big top didn’t hurt.
Many came over and asked if we had gotten lost. Some even
gave us the dates for the Chrysler Event! We all had a great time fielding
comments, questions, handing out business cards, Firecore50 stickers and
selling plenty of merchandise.
Once we told the many enthusiasts what we were doing at
the Fords event, they started asking specific questions on how their Ford
would fit into the SuperCar ShootOut. At the end of the weekend, we left
Fords at Carlisle reenergized and ready to comeback in two weeks and be
part of the GM’s at Carlisle event.
