Saturday was filled with sunshine
and fun. We took the fleet of SuperCars over to the big top and set up
shop. Chryslers @ Carlisle is filled with many great activities for the
family and car enthusiasts. The show field is filled from end to end with
great Mopars from different eras.
Firecore 50 and the SuperCar
ShootOut hosted the ugliest engine bay contest at the big top at high noon
on Saturday.
Winner of a set of Firecore
50 wires was Bob Marquardt of Berlin, CT, and his 1967 Fury Big Block.
Congrats, Bob. SuperCar ShootOut sponsor, Moparts, had a giveaway that
SuperCar ShootOut donated a handful of T-Shirts to give away.
Sharleen and I had the pleasure
of picking yet another great car that represented the SuperCar ShootOut.
After hours of searching for the right car, we discovered a 1971 GTX 440+6BBL.
We spent time looking over the
GTX and the owners son came over and introduced himself. He told us about
the GTX and it’s history and proceeded to tell us his dad has owned the
car since 1972.
When he showed us photos of
him, as a little boy, helping his dad wash the GTX back in the day, we
knew this was the one. Congratulations, Ken Puckett!
Saturday afternoon found us
holding our SuperCar ShootOut seminar in the Manufacturers Midway.
We invited the Carlisle Series
Sponsor, Rick Gorski, from Firecore 50, as well as Dave Hakim from Mancini
Racing, Billy Atwood who’s a Mopar Guru and SuperCars Rules committee representative
Chris Kuskowski to give the presentation.
The panel of four fielded many
questions from the enthusiastic crowd.
SuperCar ShootOut racers and organizers want to thank Rick Gorski from Firecore50, Stanley and the entire track staff at Quarter Aces Dragoway, Ed Buczeskie, Rick Marko and the entire staff from Carlisle Productions for three amazing events.
Mark your calendars to attend
these three great car events in the summer of 2010.
